I am a business development and proposal management consultant, specializing in responding to request for proposals (RFPs) for K-12 educational assessment programs. I have 16 years of experience and have led over 20 proposals—from $1MM to $600MM in value. I help companies develop a comprehensive strategy for responding to an RFP, and provide content, writing, and editing expertise, all while managing the proposal process. While at Pearson, I worked closely with other testing organizations to co-author proposals, and with state departments of education during the negotiation and implementation stages. Based on this experience, I am asked by testing organizations, state departments of education, and non-profit organizations to lead their proposal process and to provide proposal training. I hold a Bachelor's degree and MBA. Since May 2016, I have been an independent Business Development and Proposal Management Consultant. Below is the job description for my previous position. Led and successfully responded to multiple PARCC requests for proposals (RFPs), including managing multiple internal functional groups and subcontractors. Provided strategy and direction for: -PARCC Assessment Development RFP ($20MM+) -PARCC Assessment Administration RFP ($20MM+) -PARCC Diagnostic Assessment RFP ($10MM) -PARCC Technology Bundle RFP ($10MM) -PARCC Operational RFP ($600MM+) • Responsible for the implementation of the PARCC Operational Assessments with focus on business development, contracting, invoicing, public communications, and scope changes for 11 State Department of Education customers (~$150MM/year) • Functional manager for six project management staff responsible for invoicing, scope changes, scheduling and risk management • Primary point of contact for state testing directors at State Departments of Education. • Developed, executed, and monitored validity research plan to inform evidence-based standard setting for the ADP Algebra II End-of-Course Exam—including schedule and budget • Recruited two- and four-year colleges and state departments of education to participate in ADP Algebra I and II validity studies • Responsible for managing the ADP Algebra I and II End-of-Course Exams, including budget, schedule, and scope • Functional manager for the project management staff assigned to the ADP exams, who were responsible for monitoring the entire assessment process including item and test development, paper-based and online testing, scoring, reporting, and research and analysis. • Primary point of contact for Achieve and the ADP Assessment Consortium • Responsible for business development related to ADP program and Pearson’s broader high school reform strategy

I have worked for the past seven (7) years for a Fortune 100 company as an administrative assistant in their legal department supporting four (4) attorneys. The area of law was extremely diverse between the attorneys I supported, which included employment law; environmental law; contracts; and pharmacy. I have also obtained a paralegal certificate approximately a year ago. Prior to my position as an administrative assistant, I worked approximately ten (10) years from home doing transcription. I worked for a P.I. as a freelance transcriptionist. My duties included transcribing reports filed by the investigators; sub rosa invertiews and surveillance. This type of work mainly centered around workers' compensation claims and other insurance claims. I have done a small amount of medical transcription in the past along with a short course in medical terminology. I have the ability to learn and progress quickly when faced with new experiences. I am knowledgable with MicroSoft Office programs such as Word, Outlook, Excel. I am familiar with Adobe and other various office software programs. I am able learn and adapt to any new computer programs that are vital to get the job done.

MacMillan Planetarium Interests I enjoy writing, songwriting, singing, choirs, music, photography, watercolour painting, old house restoration, body surfing, hiking and all things outdoors. I love the richness and variability of life. I love my family and the unique take each of my children has on the world. I am passionate about education for them and for all children. Writing is an abiding interest and I enjoy the process of helping children and adults alike discover the writer within which longs to be expressed. Teaching and training in Waldorf Schools has resulted in a blossoming of my interests and abilities in music and art. My previous academic, analytic approach to learning has been opened up and rounded out. I belong to a Gospel Choir. More recently, I have been painting and participated in my first show last June. I grew up in North Vancouver, a beautiful city with mountains and ocean. I love the wilderness and urban wild places and seek them out. In university, I was on the women’s rowing team. This interest has transformed to less vigorous renditions of the sport, paddling on all manner of bodies of water. The first house my husband and I purchased was a tall, skinny, tilting four-story wooden house built in 1909. I scraped and sanded, demolished and constructed. Since then we have owned several other old houses and I have enjoyed refining their characters.

In addition to being a journalist for a small, local paper I am also an artist whose mediums are primarily ink and pencil, oil, oil pastels and watercolor. My work is an accumulation of surreal images, portraits and *****. Recently, since the arrival of my first child, I have become a stay at home mother with time on my hands for inspired outlets in the vein of crafting and design; decoupage, sewing and fashion, talc carving, and other small projects that keep the creative juices flowing. A student in the sense that I am continually aspiring to learn new methods and techniques, I am not afraid to modify my work (writing included), so that my projects and ideas are never given occasion to stagnate. That, I am convinced, is compensation for any artist’s disadvantage.
