I am a recent graduate of University of Maryland, College Park, with a B.S. in Psychology and a B.A. in Russian Language and Literature. My overall GPA is 3.8 and I graduated *** laude. Awards include National Dean's Scholar, Dean's List from Spring 2008 to Spring 2011, Dobro Slovo Honors Society, and Phi Beta Kappa. I have three years' experience in peer counseling and crisis intervention with the UMD Help Center hotline, and can handle situations ranging from emotional issues to ******* and ****. While at the Help Center, I served as an on-the-job trainer and managed a weekly shift in which I provided both over-the-phone and walk-in counseling. I also trained new Help Center volunteers, tracked their progress, and provided feedback for them. I worked for two years with a psychology graduate student as a research assistant investigating the motives behind revenge and am competent in SPSS and other statistical software packages. With a team, I created and implemented an IRB-approved psychology study that examined the relationship among stereotype application, motivation to avoid prejudice, and self-esteem. I served as a teaching assistant for a counseling psychology course and have experience conducting classroom exercises, leading discussions, and evaluating coursework. I am currently writing a newsletter for Community Ladders, a financial advice nonprofit. I am also being published in Urbanite Magazine, a Baltimore-based publication. I have been writing fiction, poems, and songs for over 10 years and am seeking further publication.
