I'm an honor student in my bachelor's degree at Liberty University (class of '16) and former honor student at Lone Star College. I have been accepted to Texas A&M to complete my master's degree in Business Analytics and Marketing, beginning in the fall of 2016. I am a freelance novelist, poet, and non-fiction writer. Upon request, I will send to prospective clients and students a sample piece of my work: a business ethics research paper written in my junior year of my undergraduate degree. It is complete with annotated references and APA formatting. I hold degrees in Accounting (A.S.), and Business Administration and Marketing (B.S.). My greatest strength, however, lies in my pen. I love to write; but even more, I love to teach others to write--and to write well! I teach writing, and I also write on a freelance basis. My expertise is in business/finance/accounting, and subjects of that nature, although I have written on everything from politics to religion. Sarah E. Lash, RMLO Congratulations on buying a new home! Having fun yet? Well, you would certainly like to be—but the home buying process is notoriously stressful. Not only are you dealing with issues like school districts, neighborhoods, prices and yard size—your head’s probably spinning at this point with terms like FHA, USDA, interest rates, bonds, points, jumbo, conventional, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and a host of other things that might as well just be in Latin. Oh, yes, and that bizarre acronym that nobody seems to know how to pin down—APR. Let’s take a quick tour into the world of mortgage acronyms and uncover some details about this elusive character. Chances are, you took one look at your Federal Truth-In-Lending statement that your loan officer sent you and wondered how much more confusing one document could possibly be. A jumble of dates, times, numbers, costs, and percentages doesn’t help explain much. Probably the most puzzling piece of this document was the two different “interest rates” that you saw near the top. Your loan officer may have told you that you were getting a 3.875%. Well, why then are you seeing a 3.990% APR at the top of this page? APR is entirely different from your interest rate. The letters stand for Annual Percentage Rate, and this rate is required to be disclosed alongside your interest rate. While your interest rate is part of your annual percentage rate, that’s only one piece of it. At its simplest, APR is a cost of your credit expressed as a yearly rate. Let’s say you went to get a loan from a friend for $500. You’re going to borrow the money for a year, and then pay it back. Your friend tells you that she won’t charge you any interest. You’re so excited. Since she’s such a good friend, she’s going to give you the money interest-free—but, she adds—with a $50 up front charge. That changes things. You thought at first that you were getting the money interest free. However, your friend just effectively made that $500 pretty expensive for you. So while you have a 0% interest rate—you actually have a 10% APR ($50 divided by $500). That loan that your friend is giving you is costing you 10% of the loan amount per year that you have it, even though she is not charging you anything in interest. We are including in our calculation of APR all costs of the loan, not just any interest that she would charge you. So what up-front charges are included in mortgage APR? There are a few things that would be included in that calculation. Among them are: - Any loan origination fees charged - Points charged for a specific interest rate - Broker fees - Mortgage Insurance (PMI) - Doc Prep fees - Flood Certification Any fees that would be incurred whether or not the home was purchased with cash or with a loan would not generally be included in the calculation of APR. Happy house hunting! Until next time, Sarah

Lindsey Kate Meyer, an experienced fashion illustrator, works with clients of all degrees of experience. She has worked nationally and internationally with bloggers, stylists, personal shoppers, online retailers, catalogs, fashion trackers, corporate companies, fashion and accessory designers, and many individuals to create custom illustrations, designs, and logos. Graduating as Valedictorian from Columbia College Chicago with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Fashion Design and minor in Art History, Lindsey knows the ins and outs of the fashion community from concept to creation and sales. Lindsey has not only had many fashion creations on the runway, but has also created couture accessories for fashion and hair shows, and has done concept design, styling, and makeup for photo shoots. She very much values the relationships of the collected fashion and artistic world and loves finding inspiration within her contacts as well as in all aspects of her life. Illustrating, often under strict deadlines, Lindsey seeks to create work that is captivating and fresh, constantly exploring new techniques and media. Her primary materials to work with are marker and watercolour, but she also often works with pencil, acrylic, gouache, colored pencil, ink, and other mixed media. Creating work that captures the elegance, beauty, and confidence of the female form is something she strives to convey in each piece. Lindsey enjoys working with new people and new ideas, with the opportunity to alter the mood and portray new ideas each time. However, she also finds inspiration in studying historic illustrators and their talents. With this knowledge, as well as a proficient understanding of color theory, textiles, construction, fit, and concept design allows her to successfully illustrate technically accurate designs. Contact Lindsey to commission work in creative or concept design, to interpret your fashion ideas, self or business promotion, special occasion illustration, advertising, editorial, or logo design. She can be reached at info@lindsey-kate.com or lindseykatemeyer@gmail.com and would love to hear your idea for your unique fashion illustration need. ADDITIONAL SPECIALTIES -Bridal Illustration- Illustrating brides is something Lindsey has always had an interest in. Drawn to the style and sentiment attached to a woman’s most extraordinary day is what Lindsey finds really appealing. Capturing this elegance and uniqueness that each bride possesses is the idea behind her one-of-a-kind illustrations. While working as an alterations specialist in a bridal gown store she gained a better understanding of a woman’s wedding day and the individuality that each bride strives to feel. This is what she attempts to exemplify through her work as a bridal illustrator. Each piece can be customized to match the bride’s hair, makeup, accessories, and gown. With a choice of paper, media, and pose-these illustrations not only make a great piece for the wall alongside a wedding photo, but also make a wonderful gift for newlyweds and anniversaries. She typically works on an 11”x14” scale for these pieces, but can customize the work to match nearly any dimensions. To view her custom bridal illustration portfolio visit www.lindsey-kate.com/custom-bridal-illustration or contact her at info@lindsey-kate.com to learn more. -Acrylic Painting- Not only is Lindsey Kate involved in the art of fashion illustration, but she has a strong passion for painting as well. Specializing in pure and partial abstraction, as well as Abstract Expressionism, Lindsey works primarily with acrylic on canvas. Many of her pieces are inspired by the natural world which she believes connects everyone both physically and spiritually. Modern art and the theory behind it have always been Lindsey’s areas of interest and it continues to motivate her and her creations. It is the emotional involvement in the work that really intrigues her, not just in the creative process, but even more so in the viewing of the finished product. She hopes that the work she creates can evoke an emotional response for each and every person, allowing them to get lost in the expanses and interaction of color. No two people’s interaction with the piece will probably ever be the same, she believes. Even within one viewer, as their mood changes so can the aura of the piece, making abstract art endlessly exciting. Lindsey Kate creates custom original work, but her pieces can also be printed on canvas and purchased as enlargements. To view her acrylic painting portfolio visit www.lindsey-kate.com/paintings. To contact her about work or purchasing a print, email her at info@lindsey-kate.com. RESUME -OBJECTIVE- I am looking for a position as a fashion illustrator-including beauty, design, or fabric illustration. I am able to change the style of my illustrations to appeal to the mood and emotion of the clothing and clientele. I am interested in illustrating others’ designs for purposes of description, editorial, or advertising; communicating ideas, or personalized special occasion illustrations.
