Wendy Inman Brown PO Box 457 1999 NC 65 Hwy. West Walnut Cove, NC 27052 336.830.3239 wendybrown70@aol.com Objective To complete my online education with The Art Institute of Pittsburgh-Online Division with a Bachelor’s Degree in Photography and get a part time position with an established studio to assist me in gaining experience. Within a few years of my completing the program and working for other developed studios to gain experience, I would like to open my own photography studio, which would allow for me to venture out into other realms of photography. Qualifications I am currently studying photography at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh-Online Division, where my major is in Photography. I have always enjoyed photography and have a talent for making outstanding photographs. Education The Art Institute of Pittsburgh-Online Division 420 Boulevard of the Allies Pittsburgh, PA 15219 877.872.8869 Student Advisor: Sarah E. Anderson (ext. 3532) Part Time Student Enrollment (Student ID 0905824932) July 2009 to Current Major of Study: Photography South Stokes High School 1100 S Stokes High Dr Walnut Cove, NC 27052-5842 (336) 994-2995 Diploma Received: May 1988 Relevant Experience At this time, I have not earned any experience within a studio of photography. I have completed a portfolio of photographs that I have taken throughout the years that would demonstrate my photographic abilities. Other Experience Pepsi Cola Customer Service Center PO Box 10 Winston Salem, NC 27102 Dates: August 1995 to February 1998 Positions Held: Cash Applications Clerk, Accounts Receivable Clerk and File Clerk. Position Duties: I also was Accounts Receivables Clerk for the Las Vegas, NV area, which was the major job held within the company. I worked directly with the customers in Nevada and field agents at the local distribution centers. I was involved in applying cash to accounts throughout the United States, which included talking and communicating with customers within all fifty states. I also held a temporary position as a file clerk in the scanning department. There we scanned invoices into the computer system and filed them according to the department regulations. Reason for Exit: To stay at home with two young daughters, who are now 17 and 13 years old. Personal Statement: I attended High School where I studied Office Occupations and dabbled in amateur photography, writing my Senior Term Paper on the subject of Photography. I then automatically entered into the workforce upon graduation, I was not able to attend college because of family finances. Because the clerical field was not of interest to me, I went from one job to another trying to find satisfaction and a position that would allow me to use my creative abilities. When my youngest daughter was born, she had many complications and was often ill. So, I decided to leave the workforce and become a stay at home mother. My oldest daughter entered her first year of High School in 2008, exactly 20 years from the date that I graduated and from the same High School, I might add. My family then began to encourage me to pursue my passion of photography. I then began to research schools to find a college that would best suit my needs. Finding The Art Institute was a blessing. I am able to study part time on the fascinating field of Photography and now that my children are older, I am able to start applying for part time positions to aid in financing my education. After receiving my BFA at Massachusetts College of Art as a painting major, I continued courses in illustration at RISD the following January through June. My most recent full time employer was William Beyer Associates on Newbury Street in Boston. That was in1980/81, and I’ve been doing full time freelance illustration ever since. From 1981 to today, I’ve created work in all fields associated with illustration: editorial, advertising, corporate, and publishing. In both children and adult venues. Books, magazines, ads, brochures, greeting cards, board games, etc. Employing directories of Illustration, through the years I’ve been able to market myself literally everywhere those books are distributed, which has allowed my business to enjoy continued growth. I’ve focused my style into mostly a pen and ink /watercolor combination. Us-ing a dip pen, I look for that spot between cartoon and representational, not too styl-ized, trendy or gimmicky but alive, sophisticated and fresh. I’m always aware of the economy and the flair of the line, and try to spotlight that. After inking, things really come alive with the application of watercolor, whether traditional brush or electronic stylus-on-tablet. I find myself often drawing all kinds of people in all kinds of situations. I enjoy employing the aerial viewpoint as well and have been called to work in that mode in varying degrees on many occasions. I have done fun and funky aerial views of Boston for Hilton Hotels, the rocky coast of Bermuda for the Wyndham Bermuda Resort, the Hills of Southern Connecticut for Quinnipiac University, Western North Carolina, and Hollywood California to name a few. One thing I can say -at the completion of every project, the client is always quite pleased, as am I. Please check out my website. Thanks.
