Hello, my name is Jacob Newell. I'm an independent comic book artist and graphic designer. I fell in love with the idea of creating comics and telling stories through visual media at an early age. I have worked with many of Ohio's independent comic creators such as Studio Akumakaze, Dustin Carson, and V:IP's Victor Dandridge. I have been freelancing my artistic and graphic design skills since 2008 and I've produced art and logos for over a dozen comic book titles. My skills include: Comic Book Penciling and Inking, Full Color Digital Art, Portrait Drawing, Character and Landscape Concept Art, Graphic and Logo Design, and Tattoo Design

I did my first commissioned art when I was 16. A teacher asked me to draw her 4 cartoon scenes of a boy and girl with an old horse. The cartoon were drawn in pen & ink with watercolor overlay. Other people saw these cartoons and asked me to do portraits of their pets. Through high school I was kept busy with commissions. I attended Montgomery County Community College in Pennsylvania from 1978-1979. Not wanting to take their art program, I designed my own. I took all the studio courses that were offered. I was taking double the courses that art major students were taking. In 1981, I decided to go back to college and take more studio courses at East Stroudsburg State College. My work was being shown at a few art shows and competitions. My specialty is pet portraits and animal art, although I have drawn and painted many subjects. Color pencil is my favorite medium but, I have also worked with pencil & graphite, watercolor, pastel, acrylic, oil and some computer work.
