Deliver those tender notices, which show potential to the relevant SME and Account Manager. Assist the SMEs and Account Managers, where necessary, to write their contributions and ensure that the tender is responded to correctly and contains all the information requested. Monitor the progress of the response to ensure that it is completed on time and copy edit the final version. Achievements • Prior to my appointment tenders were being lost because of their late lodgement. The directive given by the Branch Manager was to increase the number of on-time lodgements and to motivate staff to submit information in a timely manner. This involved close collaboration with others and persistence when all seemed futile. By the end of my period of employment at Dimension Data, the tenders were being lodged on time. September-October 2005 Technical Writer AUSTRALIAN NURSING FEDERATION (ANF) Duties • Write the policies and procedures of all staff in the ANF. This involved interviewing each staff member, analysing the information collected, assembling that information into a comprehensive set of duties and formatting the content into easily referenced text. Achievements • Prior to taking on the contract I determined a shorter timeframe to completion, which I assessed from the initial description of the position. • Acted as a catalyst for change within the office and addressed the discrepancy between the perceived and actual role of each employee within the organisation. July-September 2005 Technical Writer DEFENCE HOUSING AUSTRALIA (DHA) Duties Write profiles of reports created in COGNOS. The profiles were initially used for training purposes. At a later date they will be placed on-line as reference material for users of the reports. Achievements • The contract was for three months but staff training was to take place six weeks from the beginning of my contract. In response to a request from the Systems Manager, I worked weekends and extended office hours during the week to complete the profiles in time for the training sessions. I was able to forecast my activities whenever this was requested and I always delivered the profiles on time. June-July 2005 Proof-reader AUSTRALIAN SCIENCE TEACHERS’ ASSOCIATION (ASTA) Duties • Ensure consistency in the language and formatting of a final report, which was a collation of smaller reports submitted by schools around Australia. ASTA had invited schools to participate in a science project that required them to collaborate with their local community. The individual school reports outlined the process and outcomes of the project. Achievements • Although contracted to proofread the document, I was able to assess the content and perform a more comprehensive edit of the text. The artwork was not progressing as scheduled. • Liaised with the manager and printer regarding the final artwork. • Completed all tasks within the set timeframe. January 2001- January 2002 Writer/Editor IMBUE MARKETING Duties • Review all Imbue Marketing’s business documentation. Achievements • Ensured that all documentation for Imbue Marketing was appropriate and clear. • Wrote the promotional material for Paula Szabo (Imbue Marketing) in response to her nomination for the Clarence Council Business Woman of the Year award. Learnt how to use Robohelp for editing the text. • Edited a hard-copy instructional manual at short notice and within a two-hour timeframe. March – August 1998 Graphics and text editor COCA-COLA AMATIL Duties • Edit a set of training manuals for managers. Achievements • Plagued by technical difficulties, such as the slowness of emailing large documents from the home office in Turramurra to CCA, and the non-compatibilities between Word95 and Word98 (Microsoft had just introduced Word97, Word95 was no longer available in the shops and my hired computer had the Word97 while CCA stayed with Word95), the work had its complexities. However, the upgrading of the training manuals was completed on time. 22nd September 1997 – 28th February 1998 Writer ARISTOCRAT LEISURE INDUSTRIES Duties • Document the Security Gaming Machines (SGM) system, designed to manage financial transactions, security, memberships, and information on the players and staff of gaming venues. I was one of six writers and responsible for the ‘security module’.
