A South African native, Howard was almost completely blind by the age of twelve, got his *** caned three times a week at catholic school, (he’s Jewish), played african cowhide drums every day until his hands were stinging, went off to live in the Hotel Dolder in Zurich for six months to wait for the cornea transplant on his left eye, filled long dull days, drawing furiously in dark rooms on carpeted floors with huge sheets of paper and big sticks of charcoal, a year later he was in New York for the second corneal transplant, sped through high school in a mad dash to be rid of it, entered Johannesburg’s best art school located in the city’s worst neighborhood. where students watched ******* take in just-released prisoners across the street. studied industrial design for two years, switched to graphic design for the next two years, had a blonde German girlfriend and a fast car, graduated with a first class, jumped into a white Toyota Land Cruiser with three mates to explore the Okavango Swamps without a map, all of us clueless about this kind of camping, flew to Los Angeles to attend Art Center College of Design, graduated in three years with honors, packed a van. drove to New York without knowing a soul, showed my work to art directors all over Manhattan, danced all night at Mudd Club, nearly broke both elbows learning to roller skate, smoked hash with a Parisian photographer in Central Park working for GEO magazine, after which I could not walk, got drawn by Leroy Neiman when I got fast on skates, made artwork until midnight, going out to watch punk bands invade New York, got married, moved back to South Africa, worried about getting killed in pre election violence, painted huge canvasses for small lobbies, sold work which hangs in eight countries, went broke, learned the Mac, returned to New York, started a company designing patterns for surfaces, went to furniture fairs for yet more chairs, tried living in small towns upstate NY, hated it, moved back to the city and have professionally never seen a revolving door.

Developed and successfully established technique for isolating protected (encapsulated) HHV-8 virions. 4. Developed technique for purifying and concentrating HHV-8 virions for the lab using sucrose and histodenz gradient in Ultracentrifuge. 5. Designed silencing RNA (SiRNA) against ORF50 (primary transactivator) in HHV-8 using a company based program.and successfully used this SiRNA for blocking the ORF50 RNA expression in BCBL-1 cells (Primary Effusion Lymphoma cells) by transfection. 6. Devloped protocol to successfully see protein expression in BCBL-1 cell suspension (adhered on poly L Lysine coated glass slides) by IFA.
