May 2011 – Cameraman, Scottish Rally Championships, BBC 2 •?Cameraman for the BBC 2 coverage of the SRC, produced by Demus Productions. April 2011 - Event Filmer, Vans Shoe Co. •?A one day competition held at Caringorm Mountain in Scotland. March 2011 - Head Filmer & Editor, SoulSports ltd. •?I was employed as head filmer and editor for The Brits, a week long extreme sports festival held in Laax, Switzerland. My duties were to film and edit each day's events and produce a 3-5 minute film with 24 hours. December 2009 - Present: In-house filmer and editor for Sno!Zone Scotland. •???have been taken on on a freelance basis to film, edit and produce all promotional material on behalf of the facility. This includes internet based advertising, promo shorts and event coverage. July 2005 – Present: Editor, Cameraman & Producer, WhiteSpace Productions • A snowboard film production collective with 6 previous releases 1. “WhiteSpace Presents…” (2006) Production run of 20,000 copies. Released on front cover of Snowboard UK (UK’s largest circulating snow sports publication) 2. “Jibberish” (2007) Released through Method.TV, Europe’s most popular snowboard dedicated website with membership of over 80,000. Over 5,000 downloads on the first day alone. 3. “Fists of Glory” (2008) Entry into the Oakley Jib-Vid. Europe-wide snowboard filmmaking competition, teams of 3 given 26 hours to film, edit and produce a 2-minute short film. Was awarded 11th place. 4. “Our Mountain Story” (2008) Entry into the prestigious Mountain Stories competition, a UK wide competition presented by Urb-Orbis & The Snowboard Asylum (the UK’s largest chain of snowboard stores). Was awarded “Best Season Story” prize. An FOC release, available at all Snowboard Asylum outlets with a production run of 100,000 copies. 5. “Snowbombing-Behind the Scenes” (2009). A behind-the-scenes POV film commissioned by Outgoing Ski ltd., the company behind the Snowbombing music festival. As 2009 was the 10th anniversary, the production team decided they would like a record of what they do to make the festival happen. I was given a vague brief and allowed to use my own discretion to produce an 18-minute film with a turnaround time of less than 4 weeks. 6. “Get Yer Boots On” (2010). This project was farther reaching than any of the previous as it featured riding from snowboarders from across the UK, rather than just the WhiteSpace crew specifically. A much harder project as not all filming was done by me and so to work with other peoples shots, filmed in a different style, and try to make the whole thing blend together and flow properly was definitely my biggest challenge so far. The film was released throught the TSA website and has had over 12,000 downloads to date. •?I have a working knowledge of the Canon XM2, XL1s, 5DmkII, 7D, 550D and the Sony Z1, Z5, Z7 • All post-production used Adobe Creative Suite. • As part of only a 2 man filming crew, it was my responsibility for post-production; capturing, choosing shots, assembling footage (involves a large degree of quality control) and production design, (graphics, moving images etc.) • With the largest production Jibberish, I was in charge of liasing with the sponsors to discuss the design of their advertising, and overall production. • As with almost all winter sport productions, November is the time of year to release, so being able to produce a progressive and fresh looking piece within 6 months of completing filming takes a huge amount of dedication and self-management. The snowboarding world can be extremely fickle and so the quality control needed to produce a film of merit must be very high. • Our second production, Jibberish, was released through a website and so had to be compressed into an online format, suitable for slow and fast streaming. The teasers we produced for our other films were also for the web. • Conditions in the mountains can change rapidly and so it can be difficult to keep the same settings for the images, relying on colour correction in post-production was necessary in many cases.
