Art is a tool for self-expression and personal growth. Having been classically trained I have spent the past few years developing my own techniques and ways of working to connect with children and adults on a more emotional and often spiritual level. My work is based on human relationships, experiences and the journey of self-exploration that we all take to understand ourselves. I believe it is important to stay true in capturing the voice of today as this is what we shall carry into the future. With a wide pallet of mixed media my work is powerful fantasy based illustrations

Hello, I am Anthony Bowden, an artist who aspires to become a character designer and concept artist for video games, cartoons, or any other visual media, yet I also have experience in voice over work for news stories, as well as some slight voice acting, and I also know editing and flim composition. I am a cartoonist who fuses elements of Asian cartooning and American cartooning into 2 separate styles: a light-hearted, comedic style and a much more serious style. I also studied graphic design, and know how to effectively use the color and shapes of a logo or the style of the lettering in a way to attract consumers to your service.

Some time ago I discovered some childhood drawings at the back of my mother’s wardrobe and remembered what I used to love doing: painting, drawing and piecing it all together in some great collage of creativity. I’d sew little pieces of fabric together to make a shirt or a dress and then paint or print on it. I could make something out of virtually nothing. With a degree in Business Marketing and more than a decade of selling, branding, copywriting and design work under my corporate sleeve, I remembered my discovery, and I started to create again. I was fortunate to be living overseas at that time. I started as a Docent for the Singapore Art Museum and painting for pleasure. By the time I left Singapore and moved to Dubai the work I was producing appealed greatly to expatriates and locals looking for a unique representation of these countries. I worked mostly in mix media and painted landscape forms from the beach to the desert. Returning to Australia I undertook formal training in Visual Art and Contemporary Craft and worked on a variety of projects that have involved fundraising with a creative twist; from art auctions to t-shirt designs. My work has been exhibited and sold throughout the world for the past 10 years. I now freelance my services in the areas of creative design, copywriting and teaching. It is my way of expressing and translating inner vision to outer reality working quite deliberately, consciously employing both traditional and innovate techniques for companies and individuals with a need for creative flair.

Though I was born in a small Ukrainian village in 1987, the only place I have ever called home is Chicago, Illinois. Since my family’s immigration to the United States from the former Soviet Union in 1989, I have had the fortune of experiencing the arts in multifaceted ambiances, cultures, and genres throughout my life, thus coming to understand that my passion for expression through the arts allows no room for self-limitation. My grandfather, renowned artist Yury Kanzburg, has served as my most inspirational and critical instructor from the earliest stages of my artistic education. Through traditional old-world training and the study of composition, value, line, color, and form, I learned to appreciate and apply the essential elements of art and design. Experimenting with gouache, watercolors, tempera, oil, acrylic, charcoal, pastels, ink, and graphite in my compositions from a very young age, I became quickly comfortable with a vast array of media and various techniques. By re-creating the works of masters such as Rembrandt, Da Vinci, and Goya, as well as sketching constantly to quickly capture the essence of the natural world, I was able to develop the skill and patience necessary to work between arduous, detailed studies, while concurrently building the ability to swiftly capture ephemeral instants in time. Insistent that I have a strong foundation and skill base before delving into my conceptual work, my grandfather exposed me to the rudiments which constitute my personal understanding of the multifaceted nature of contemporary visual culture. A simultaneous desire to teach and thirst to learn compelled me to earn my BFA in Fine Arts and Art Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) in the spring of 2011. My 6-12 teaching certificate is supplemented by an English endorsement, allotting me the aptitude to merge both artistic and linguistic domains. I have acquired substantial experience in the secondary education field and have had the opportunity to teach hundreds of aspiring young artists from within and around the Chicago metropolis. I place great emphasis on considering the visual and literary arts within cultural and historical contexts through extensive investigation of various wet, dry, and digital two and three-dimensional media, methods, and practices, as well as consistent critical analysis of diverse subject matter, concepts, and interpretations. Inquiry-based discourse and the dissection of aesthetic, technical, and conceptual elements in the works of practicing historical and contemporary artists and authors are equally essential in my mission to make meaningful inter-vocational associations. I am constantly seeking new and diverse opportunities to submerge myself in settings that have the capacity to drive me in developing as an artist, teacher, and perpetual learner, while simultaneously providing an environment saturated with creative energy that is ready to be absorbed.
