I have several years of experience both editing and shooting video. I have done volunteer, as well as paid video work. I have also won several awards for short films that I have directed, edited, and shot. I love all aspects of movie making, but I consider cinematography and editing to be my specialties. To me, it's not a job. It's something I love to do, and I put 100% into any project no matter how big or small. I am constantly learning and improving my skills, and I know how to take direction in order to produce exactly what you are looking for.

I am an independent scholar who has specialized in the history and archaeology of northern China. I began studying Chinese over 30 years ago at the Stanford Center on the Taida (?? or the National Taiwan University [NTU] ??????) campus in Taipei, Taiwan. I was enrolled there for over 3-1/2 years; I also took history classes at the University, passing written exams in Chinese. In 1985 I returned to the US and completed a Ph.D. at UCLA in 1989. I studied the origins of Chinese civilization, specializing in the archaeology of the Xia Dynasty (?? [[2070-1600 BC]). I am a paleographer interpreting the Shang Dynasty's Oracle Bone Inscriptions (??) as well as other pre-Qin Dynasty forms of writing and texts. I have read hundreds of modern Chinese scholarly articles on the subject – and translated many passages related to my Dissertation. In the 1990’s I worked for the Los Angeles County Natural History Museum, where I created the exhibition of archaeological treasures from China’s Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region: EMPIRES BEYOND THE GREAT WALL: THE HERITAGE OF GENGHIS KHAN. It toured for more than 3-1.2 years in the US, Canada, and New Zealand and was visited by more than a million people. Over 20,000 copies of my research catalog have been sold. [For information on the catalog, cf.http://books.google.co.uk/books/about/Empires_beyond_the_Great_Wall.html?id=-_HpAAAAMAAJ]. In order to bring the exhibition to fruition, I negotiated and composed the contract in Chinese with the government’s Department of Culture as well as the contracts with 9 museums in Inner Mongolia. On numerous occasions I acted as interpreter at government meetings for the Los Angeles County Supervisors who accompanied the museum staff on our trips. In fact, in the late 1990’s I assisted the Los Angeles County Protocol Office to obtain an (unscheduled) appointment for the LA County supervisors with China’s president Jiang Zemin (???) when he visited LA. When the Empires exhibition traveled to the Tennessee State Museum in Nashville, I helped organize an economic conference through the Tennessee Governor’s office that was attended by 26 delegates from Inner Mongolia and Shaanxi province. I translated all the Chinese abstracts of their papers. I also delivered the keynote speech in English and Chinese to the conference. Since 2000 I have worked in various capacities as an interpreter and guide for Chinese delegations visiting LA. I have been asked to correct and edit materials translated from Chinese into English. Also, my SONG BLUE AND WHITE PORCELAIN ON THE SILK ROAD was published in 2012 by the great E.J.Brill Press of Leiden, Netherlands. The book is based my archaeological field work in Inner Mongolia in the 1990’s [cf.: (cf. http://books.google.com/books/about/Song_Blue_and_White_Porcelain_on_the_Sil.html?id=iABEQXUfmhIC). As with my Doctoral. dissertation, I read hundreds of Chinese classical texts and modern articles, abstracting and translating necessary passages. To summarize, I am experienced in the translation and interpretation of Chinese in a variety of contexts. I can say that I possess the skills to research and translate Chinese written on other subjects, even those professionally unfamiliar. Most important, I can render my translation in clear and readable English.

Michael Cooper is well into his third decade of painting large-scale custom murals. Since starting Murals & More LLC in 1990, he has designed and painted wall murals ranging from small interior residential projects to enormous hotel interiors to massive exterior highway projects. Also an accomplished decorative painter, he has transformed many surfaces into fabulous brick, intricate marble and classic Italian Plaster. He is internationally renowned for his attention to detail and his ability to create realistic and whimsical trompe l'oeil murals. People have simply been amazed at discovering what they thought was a series of wrought iron balconies or a clumsily placed ladder was actually a flat painted surface. Cooper founded Murals & More LLC after painting murals as a hobby for nearly his entire life. His first association with a mural was actually in his hometown of Memphis, in the first grade, (too many years ago!) where his winning drawings were incorporated into a large tile mural, which still exists today. Even though his specialty is large-scale murals and decorative finishes, Michael has also provided his clients with painted furniture, ceiling murals, floor cloths, backdrops, sports murals and many other specialty items. His most recent commercial projects include a 150' mural of underwater activity in the natatorium of the Kingsport, TN., Aquatic Center, turning a 50' silo into a massive copper keg with enormous beer taps for Yazoo Brewery, a 100??? canvas mural for Vanderbilt Children???s Hospital, a 40' x 60' "carved Carrera marble" cherub in Downtown Cheyenne, Wyoming, and a 50' x 150' "architectural wallpaper" mural in Indianapolis. (And that's not even mentioning his residential projects!) In order to share his over 20 years of experience as a professional mural artist, Michael (and Mickie!) has also been teaching classes in the art and business of mural painting in their large Franklin studio, as well as seminars throughout the country. He has authored an instructional DVD on "How to Paint Murals", and he has his own line of custom mural brushes (the Michael Cooper Signature Series), as well as various other custom tools. He is a member of the Artist's Advisory Council and the Community Relations Board for the Frist Center of the Visual Arts, a teacher with the TPAC ArtSmart Program, an avid racquetball player, and, in his spare time (really?), Mike plays a decent 12 string guitar and a mean djembe. And if it weren't for his wife, Mickie, he wouldn't be here at all!

I have an extensive background in graphic design, print/digital media marketing and theatre. For over 10 years in Los Angeles, I worked at an entertainment-centered marketing communications and public relations agency, where I was promoted from an administrative position to Creative Executive managing graphic design and creative marketing for PR campaigns and new business development. My primary accounts were the home and digital entertainment divisions of major film and television studios, including Twentieth Century Fox, MGM, Universal Studios, Disney, CBS, Lionsgate and HBO, among others. Other creative projects include DC Entertainment (DC Comics), YouTube, Hulu, Netflix, Square Enix, Sesame Street, Konami and more. My assignments were the following: • Press materials (i.e., teaser cards, print/digital media, specialized letterhead) • Posters as well as signage, banners and press badges for major events • Full print/digital press kits, catalogs, and promotional brochures • PowerPoint and Keynote presentation design • E-marketing messages • Ads for web and print • Web graphics, infographics • Social media backgrounds, cover photos and branded image posts • Copy writing for press releases and media alerts I received a BFA in Theatre Arts from Salem State University and an MFA in Theatre Arts from Southern Methodist University; served as elected President of the Student Theatre Ensemble at SSU as well as producer/director/writer of the University's Human Action Theatre for four seasons; additionally I frequently designed and organized promotional material at both universities as a student and alumnus. Later, I sought further studies, exclusively in graphic design at University of California, Los Angeles. Since relocating back to Boston, I have been a freelance designer involved with various PR and marketing businesses in Boston, NYC, LA and some world-wide businesses, as well as working with local theatre, dance and arts organizations.
