I have over two years of technical writing experience working for the Calgary Board of Education on a contract basis. In my time with the CBE, I've mostly written user manuals and produced (wrote scripts, filmed and edited) training videos on how to use an online database program called Archibus Web Central. Each user manual and video I've created has been tailored for a specific user group. Archibus Web Central serves a variety of purposes at the CBE, such as managing the organization's work request system, projects, musical instruments, CTS equipment, and energy usage systems. I've also beta tested software changes and updates before they were released to the end users, liaised with employees on business procedures, and implemented said procedures in my work, and created and updated Visio workflows as well. Before starting my current job, I completed my Bachelor of Applied Communications degree at MacEwan University in Edmonton. During my time in the program, I learned a variety of communication skills, such as creative writing, business and PR writing, magazine writing, copyediting and proofreading. Overall, I am a talented, confident and hard working communicator with a high attention to deal, and I am happy to get the job done.

I have been a graphic artist for over fifteen years. I am an effective and positive team player known for contributing effective creative solutions to our team. I am able to give and receive constructive criticism while working together as a team towards a goal to satisfy the client within the necessary deadline. I am thoroughly prolific with all the tools of the trade (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator). I possess a “Let’s Get It Done!” attitude! I am very proficient in pre-press and I am willing to relocate for the right position! I have just graduated from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh - Online with a Digital Design Diploma. I have learned so much from the Art Institute that the thought of not being in school and constantly learning saddens me so I have decided to continue my education with the Art Institute and work towards my Bachelor Degree. I started my graphic artist career off by complete accident. I had no idea that I have such a passion for art! I started at my job working part-time, filing negatives, entering files in the database, and being the gopher. I was very interested in our layout department, I found myself asking the designers a ton of questions. One day one of the designers sat me down and taught me the basics of designing a postcard. From that day on I was addicted! Within a couple of months I became full time but had a lot of learning to do! I began reading book after book and watching Photoshop and Illustrator tutorials to find out as much as I can about the programs, design techniques and theory. I have been to an occasional Photoshop seminar, but besides that, I am self taught. Two years ago I felt like I was missing something. I have an eye for color and what looks good, but I wanted to know the proper techniques of design. I also wanted to learn more about typography so I decided to enroll in college and it was the best decision I could have ever made! This portfolio shows examples of my work both professionally and academically.

http://loomcomics.com/ As a graphic designer, freelance illustrator, independent comic creator, and community educator, I create beautiful and informative graphics & illustrations. I bring my illustrative flare to manuals and presentations, introducing hand-lettering and graphical instructions to improve visual literacy and enhance text flow. My experience as a comic creator gives me a keen eye for detail, arrangement, and visual hierarchy. My background in traditional art allows me to create hand-done calligraphy and graphical logos from scratch to give your branding, identity, or novel cover a creative edge against competitors. I believe in visual communication as a means to break down complex ideas. My goal is to fuse the beauty of traditional art with my digital know-how to add texture and character to your visual project.
