However, my educational background and the materials I have used (Strunk and White's 'Elements of Style'; 'Chicago Manual of Style') have given me a strong foundation. Where the written word is concerned, I am a stickler for detail. I am seeking part time editing work because I have become a full time caregiver for my mother. A look online revealed that basic copyediting pays roughly $30 to $40 per hour. Given that I am just getting started, I would charge $25 per hour as a fair rate.
