I recently took the position of manager of Turtle Beach Resort and Inn, Siesta Key, Fl. I would like to pitch a travel story angles editors and writers. We have 2 properties, one on Sarasota Bay and the other on a lagoon overlooking Turtle Beach. We are waterfront with lush tropical grounds and the best sunsets on the island. Siesta Key is a destination for the pristine waters and the many uninhabited islands designated as natural habitats for wildlife. There are more than 220 species for birdwatchers to scope out: pelicans, osprey, herons, egrets, sanderlings and eagles are among them. May through October is sea turtle nesting season and Sarasota County boasts the largest loggerhead nesting rookery on Florida's west coast. Other species that nest along the Gulf Coast include green sea turtles and, occasionally, Kemp's Ridley's. The waters here are teeming with fish, dolphins and manatees. The Resort is a boutique hotel with 20 cottages and studio units. We are pet and boater friendly as we have docks located at mile marker #48 on the intercoastal waterway . We host many Honeymooners and many actual travel here for destination weddings and get married right on the property. Each cottage has a private patio with private hot tub, hammock, and kitchenettes. Guests have access to kayaks, canoes, bicycles, fishing gear, 2 heated pools and guest laundry. We have 3 restaurants in walking distance from the hotel and we are steps to Turtle Beach. We were recently featured in Southern Living, The Boston Globe and the NY Times Travel Guide. Siesta Key was recent;y named #1 beach in America by Dr. Beach. We would love to extend an invitation for writers and editors to come visit our resort and share their experiences with their readers. I look forward to hearing from you. I am a hard working individual interested in the world of art and design. I have recently graduated from University and currently working as a freelance Illustrator and Graphic Artist, I am keen to break into the industry and start building and honing my skills to become the best that I can be. I am passionate and driven, with a good work ethic. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AND SIGNIFICANT ACHIEVEMENTS Education and Qualifications Studied at Chalfont Community College, and Buckinghamshire New University • BA Hons Graphic Arts (2:1) • Foundation In Art and Design (merit) • AS Level in General Studies, A Level in Art, Digital Art, and English Literature. • GCSE’s in Art and Design, English Literature, English Language, Mathematics, Statistics, Geography, Wood Technology, Science (double), French, ICT (double), and Religious Education Key Achievements Throughout my studies art and design has always been my main interest. My foundation in art and design gave me access to a wide variety of different art forms, such as model making, graphic design, fine art and surface design. During the course I was able to experience each, working in a variety of different ways. It was during this year that I became certain my future was within the area of graphic arts and illustration. For my degree I was able to experience various sides of graphic arts, including typography, layout design, branding, illustration, and animation. I was also able to experience how graphic design works in relation to the advertising world. During my degree I wrote my dissertation on the methods of animation and whether traditional methods still hold relevance with the technology of today. Through my research I gained a good understanding of the nature of animation and film making, and where it might be taken in the future. In my first year of University I acted as a team leader for a live brief entitled “Jamie Oliver’s Good Food” set by William Murray Hamm. I then had the opportunity to work on a number of competition briefs during my time at university, including; “Write and Illustrate a Children’s Book” – Macmillan “Create a Disney Character” - DNAD “James and the Giant Peach”- Penguin During my final year at university I was able to visit New York, and a number of creative design agencies in the city, to get an idea of the way in which agencies will be approached by a client, and the various stages a project might go through. These included; The Chopping Block Stardust Imaginary Forces Brand New School Saatchi & Saatchi X After finishing university I began working as a full time caricature artist for Artistic Licence UK. During my time working there I came into contact with a variety of different people, from different backgrounds and of different ages on a daily basis. I was drawing up to 50 caricatures a day and therefore had to adapt to working at a fast and steady pace. I have also undertook some work experience with Paul Mitchell Design, during my two weeks here I worked as part of a small team of Graphic Designers and was able to see how they interpret a brief from a client, working on some smaller projects, such as leaflet and flyer design, as well as some logo design. More recently I worked for a week as an Art Department Assistant on the film “Great Expectations” due for release in 2012. I worked with a small group of art assistants under the art director and I was shown how to read drawing elevations for set design, and given the chance to create my own set models from their designs. As well as this, I was able to watch filming, walk around the sets, and look at the storyboarding process. Please don't hesitate to contact me at any time if you require my services.
