Gözde Efe was born in Izmir in 1988. After her highschool education, She moved to Eskisehir to study. In 2011, She graduated from School of Communication Sciences Department of Cinema and Television of Anadolu University. At the age of 10, She was choosen to be voiceover of the weekly radio programme Time of Children. She had diction and fonetic lessons. She has been a part of arts activities also voluntarily. In 2008 and 2009, In the International Film Festival of Eskisehir She was a volunteer guide student. She also runned with the condition that media coordinator of International Amateur Jazz Musicians Festival of Anadolu University for three years. In 2009, She decided to improve herself in filmmaking and go further with that. In the summer of 2009, She worked with director Henk Penninga with the short movie “Drive”. In 2010, She was choosen with other cinema students from Anadolu University to attend Arts and Understanding Intensive Project of Volda University of Norway. During the Project time, she took dram,landart,dance and cinema lessons from equipped academics coming from University of Wales and Volda University of Norway. Later, She was accepted from Noorderlicht Film as intern student. In 2010, She worked with director Henk Penninga and Producer Wieke Mollema in Noorderlicht Film. She become the author of the film Trains and People produced by Wieke Mollema. I draw illustrations, doodles, and comics in order to express my thoughts, my sense of humor, and my imagination. I feel that what I’m thinking is better conveyed through visual form rather than through words. It is as if I feel creating images in place of speaking is a less self-conscious way to express my thoughts. Ultimately, though, I am still self-conscious and self-aware, and this shows through in my work, I believe. With this self-awareness also comes a desire to please or gain a reaction out of the viewer. I do this by instilling at least a little humor, meaning, or both into nearly every piece of art I do. Some of the major recurring themes in my art include a sense of solitude, strangeness, and silliness. I seem to be drawn to natural settings, landscapes, and animals: the natural environment can embody a sense of vastness and unfamiliarity, while animals can sometimes have a certain kind of simple, non-personal humor that I think is appealing. Usually I seek to have a fun, fictional, irreverent feeling in my art. I do not know how to best transfer that feeling until I’ve laid the pencil to the paper. I begin drawing and develop and morph my ideas through sketches and thumbnails. I enjoy the freshness of the first thought-to-pencil transfers, but will follow a finished idea up with the proper refinements. Often I will sketch and re-work something fairly extensively before finally completing the piece by traditionally, or digitally, inking and coloring my piece. My initial ideas eventually manifest themselves into the form of either individual illustrations, or sequential art.
