Greetings! I am a very creative and spontaneous mind filled with an intense knack to produce the unexpected and unfamiliar. I have undergone several personal projects ranging from comic books (Japanese manga style), illustrations for friends (for movies), books, and various essays. My artistic skills possess a unique blend of Asian and cartoonish (mainly anime) influence yet can range to many other avenues of creative expression such as nature, architecture and robotics. As far as writing is concerned, my use of descriptive vocabulary leaves an impression of soulful intuition and humanistic qualities that imprint whatever message I attempt to convey as a powerful memory in the minds of my readers. I have had much experience in writing, as I find myself exploring this every single day. I am currently putting together a book of excitingly unconventional topics and am very skilled in expressing visual settings and narration for short stories. I am especially best at writing material that can be potential speeches; the sort that simply takes one's breath away with intense words of wisdom and emotion.

I received my Master's Degree in Fine Art from The University of Michigan in 2011, with an emphasis in sculpture and drawing. My art is an expression of personal paranoia created in an aesthetic style similar to E.C. Comics, MADD Magazine, and retro animatronics: grotesque, yet playful. A major influence of mine are dark rides. I grew up near Pittsburgh, and would ride the numerous dark rides at Kennywood Amusement Park every summer. My favorite was Le Cachot created by Bill Tracy. I am currently a member of DAFE (Darkride And Funhouse Enthusiasts), and have gone on several outings and behind-the-scenes tours. Working in the dark ride industry has been a life-long dream of mine, and I am will jump at the opportunity to do so. I am familiar with many different technical processes of sculpture: -Metal working: TIG Welding, MIG Welding, ARCH Welding, bronze pouring -Polymer clay sculpting: i.e. Super Sculpey molding and baking -Plaster casting and subtractive sculpting -Mold making using plaster, rubber, and algenate -Basic mechanical techniques incorporating motors, motion sensors, simple electronics I -like all of the other applicants for this position- am a horror movie aficionado, but what sets me apart is the academic research I have done into grotesque imagery. In addition to my art historical background, I have traveled to Rome, Florence, Paris, and throughout India documenting depictions of demons, Last Judgment/ Hell scenes, antique weaponry, and monster designs across cultures and time periods. I have amassed a visual library not found in movies, textbooks, or the Internet -making my aesthetic background and subsequent designs unique. Thank you for your consideration, and I hope to hear back from you, -Sean Darby Below is my abridged resume; a full resume is available upon request.
