I was born in South Africa in 1990 but moved to the UK in 2000 - which was a blessing perhaps as the rainy days are a brilliant excuse to stay inside painting! Growing up I was glued to the T.V every time an animated movie came on so I suppose you could say my greatest artistic influences were Milt Kahl, Glene Keane and Andreas Deja. I carried this love of cartoons over to my education where I studied BA(Hons) Animation at Staffordshire University. What I found out was that though I loved watching characters coming to life I enjoyed designing and illustrating them much more. The excitement of starting from scratch and creating a whole new world based on just a few words is what led me to pursue a career in illustration. I started out on my artistic path with simple pencil and paper but around six years ago my Dad bought me my first tablet. Since then digital art and I haven't parted and nowadays most of my finished work tends to be created in Photoshop - I don't think I could live now without my precious undo button!

I have always loved art, and will always appreciate the world of imagination that brings life to an artists soul. Unfortunately for me my brain thinks way to much and I am most of the time at its whim. A lot of my ideas come from being bored just sitting around the house either playing video games, watching anime and movies, to just drawing. The greatest thing about it is I get to create new things daily that come from imagination and share them with the world. H.M.

I am a teaching artist for the MD State Arts Council and have been trained in Arts Integration (coordinating Fine Arts with Academics). I would consider myself a mixed media artist. I work with paint, glass, pen & ink, clay, wood, metal, etc. As a painter (all types - portrait, landscape, illustration, stylized, murals, etc.), I feel that I can acheive many different styles - traditional to abstract. I have had my own art business for twenty years and continue to multitask in assorted art related fields. I also enjoy reading, writing, and travelling; I have a special penchant for children's books both for the stories as well as the illustrations. I have been a designer and executor of commercial leaded glass windows, restaurant interior design, sign painting, and enjoy anything that requires a creative touch. I could keep going...!
