Piccoli Raniero, sculptor and engraver, born in Treviso (Italy) in 1975 and living in Spresiano (Treviso). EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS 1) School-leaving certificate of “Liceo” specializing in classical studies (58/60) 2) Degree in Fine Arts (full marks) 3) Master Degree in Visual Arts (110/110) Spoken languages: French, Italian. EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL TRAINING After finishing to study at the Liceo classico A. Canova in 1994, I devoted myself to study drawing and I wrote a theoretical treatise about the drawing technique, which was presented to Mr. Collareta, art teacher at the “Scuola Normale Superiore” of Pisa, and was sincerely appreciated by him. 2002: I frequented a marble-sculpture workshop in Carrara. I published the article “Psychodynamic approach to Canova’s works” in the “Art Psychology Magazine” (number 13). 2003: personal art exhibition “Portraits and Faces in Sculpture” at the Collegio Salesiano Astori of Mogliano Veneto. I offered a bust of Maria Callas to the “Callas Association” of Venice, which was exposed in New York on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of her birth. 2005: Execution of the engraving of Auxerre Cathedral for the “Les amis de la Cathédrale” association. I graduated at the Academy of Fine Arts of Venice (110/110). In my degree thesis I presented the theoretical aspects of the drawing technique I devised. I cooperated with a carnival mask workshop in Venice and my model was chosen, as the government of Gabon commissioned a mask with the face of the President on the occasion of his 25 years-government. I gave a sculpture and engraving exhibition at the Benedictine abbey of Mogliano Veneto. 2006: Regione Veneto purchased one of my engravings representing the Health church of Venice and used it as an institutional gift. 2007: second personal exhibition at the Benedictine abbey of Mogliano Veneto. Execution of an engraving representing the Cistercian Abbey of Follina, which was exposed in the Abbey. 2008: I entered the qualification course at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice and I won the competition as a collaborator to the sculpture workshop. I took part in the collective exhibition “ Paolina is 200” given by the ”Le Venezie” association at Villa Letizia in Treviso. I executed an engraving representing St Catherine’s church and convent, which had a circulation of 150, for the Commune of Treviso. On the occasion of a lecture given by Martial Raysse in Venice, a master of French surrealism, I created the drawings representing some phases of his lecture, on request of Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, as the artist did not accept either shots or photos. My drawings were set in a video edited by Ca’ Foscari University, which was broadcasted at Palazzo Grassi. At the International Children’s Book Fair of Bologna I was selected (only Italian artist in the Non-Fiction section) as an exhibiting illustrator. My works were exhibited in the most important Japanese cities and in Seoul. On the occasion of the 500th anniversary of Palladio’s birth I made an engraving representing a villa planned by him for the Commune of Piombino Dese, and my work was offered to Mr. Sgarbi MP and to Massimo Cacciari, mayor of Venice. The same Commune gave me the appointment to made a sculpture bust of Palladio, which was set in the municipality square, opposite Palladio’s villa. I was selected to take part in the 1st International Printmaking Biennial Istanbul 2008. My works were exhibited at the Biennial in September 2008, and then published in a book containing images of the works selected. I cooperated with a Venice workshop as a linoleum engraver and created some décors intended for cinema and carnival costumes. 2009: I obtained the Master Degree in Visual Arts(110/110) with a degree thesis about the encaustic technique which was used among Greek artists of the Classical age. 2010: on commission of the abbot of the Basilica dei Frari of Venice I made two engravings, one representing the exterior of the church, the other representing the wooden choir in the interior. Both works were offered to the patriarch of Venice. In 2009 and 2010 I worked as a professor of Art History at the Liceo Marconi of Mogliano Veneto. I have remarkable didactic qualities, and I consider myself suitable to teach drawing, sculpture, engraving and the techniques of our pictorial tradition.
