RESUME Bob R. Qualls Batesville, Arkansas 72501 ACHIEVEMENTS • From November 1998 to May 2013, I directed the public relations and communications office at Lyon College. During my tenure, the PR office achieved stability, news releases were produced with professionalism and accuracy and distributed on a timely basis, and solid relationships were built with local and state news media. I also served as chief spokesman for the college during that time. Under my direction, the PR office won the Gold Award (first place) for Crisis Communications in 2010 from CASE (Council for Advancement and Support of Education) for our response to a fire that destroyed Edwards Commons, the campus dining hall and student center. I have edited and directed the production of the college’s publications, including The Piper alumni magazine, newsletters, course catalogs and various brochures and information pieces for student recruitment and fund-raising. • As the editor of The Baxter Bulletin of Mountain Home, Ark., the daily newspaper won 193 awards, including first place in General Excellence four years in a row (1994-97). I also won individual awards for editorial writing, column writing, editorial pages, page design and headline writing. In the 1997 National Newspaper Association’s Best of the States Competition, The Bulletin won the top award for its category (10,000 to 24,999 circulation). • I am proficient in Microsoft Word and QuarkXpress software, and have a working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe InDesign and Dreamweaver (for web design). I am also proficient in social media, including Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. November 1998 to May 2013: Director of Public Relations and Communications for Lyon College (title changed to Director of Communications, News, and Media Relations in 2010). Lyon is a selective liberal arts college affiliated with the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A., and located in Batesville, Ark.
