For over twenty years, Patricia Walker Chatman has worked in the human service industry. She began her professional career at United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) of Metropolitan Detroit. At UCP, Patricia served as an Advocate for persons with disabilities. In 1994, Patricia launched her own organization "Choices Supported Employment (Choices)" delivering employment and training services to persons with disabilities and other disadvantaging conditions. As the President and CEO of Choices, through various grant and fee for service opportunities, Patricia secured grant funding from the Detroit Workforce Development Department, Oakland County Community Mental Health, United Cerebral Palsy, Michigan Rehabilitation Services, and various private foundations. In 2004, Patricia joined the team at Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit as Manager of the Customized Employment Department. Since her arrival at Goodwill Industries, Patricia has been promoted to Director of Employment & Training at the Detroit Career Center. As Director, Patricia is responsible for Workforce Development and Behavioral Health Services. Her areas of expertise include Grant Writing, Program Design, Implementation and Management, Public Policy and Administration, Fiscal Management, Contract Compliance, Training and Development, and Quality Control. In 2010, Patricia accepted a Faculty Associate position at University of Phoenix facilitating Financial Management for Human Services and Integrated Business Topics. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Oakland University. A Master Degree in Public Policy and Administration and anticipates completing her doctorate degree in Public Policy Administration in September 2012.
