Marla D. Jenkins is a thought provoking article writer, uplifting lyricist, and motivational poet. She attended The University of Alabama at Birmingham where she majored in Theatre and Mass Communications. Although she has been writing poetry and lyrics since the age of nine, it wasn?t until the age of 32 that she discovered her passion for article writing.
Marla started writing articles while working as a work-study student for the Student Publications Department at The University of Alabama at Birmingham, when she was asked to cover a story about tattoos for The Kaleidoscope Newspaper. But it was her determination to write an article about a talk show host from Atlanta that no one else on the newspaper staff wanted to interview that set her writing path in to motion. As a follow up, she interviewed Bubba Sparxx, Paul S. Morton Jr. with Freestyle Nation, bass guitarist ? Alvin Garrett with Just a Few Cats, and the founders of 305 Flava clothing line. Marla later went on to serve as an Editor for the Kaleidoscope Newspaper but she gained notoriety within the college and church arena from her controversial relationship articles, ?Women Should Not Tolerate Men?s Bad Habits?, ?Everybody Play?s Games?, and ?Sista?s Please Stop Offstage Drama?.
Marla?s contributions to writing stretch beyond newspaper writing. She co-wrote a ten minute play called ?Ella Quince?, poems ?Fruition? and ?Broken Image? which were published on poetry.com, and has donated several lyrics to various churches. Today, she is currently writing a motivational book and continues to hone her skills as a contemporary lyricist.
