Nicola Tancrel is a well-established representational fine artist who specialises in wildlife art, as well as portraiture, landscapes and equine art. Her mediums of choice are gouache, an opaque watercolour, and acrylic.
Nicola Tancrel was born in 1978 and grew up in Graaff-Reinet, South Africa, a stark oasis in “The Little Karoo”, a beautiful part of the world where the surrounding landscape inspires an affinity with nature. Nicola's parents, Sharon and Michael Tancrel, acclaimed South African airbrush artists, were her teachers; her first group show was at the age of 16.
Nicola studied Art Direction, Graphic Design, Public Relations, Event Management and Photography; and has practiced Interior Design.
Nicola's older paintings reflect the Irish landscape, having lived in Dublin for 6 years, completely captivated by the beauty of the Irish landscape. Having moved back to her home country, Nicola now lives in Cape Town in the shadow of Table Mountain, where she is painting work inspired by South Africa's natural beauty.
Nicola has exhibited in multiple venues internationally, some of which include Combridge Fine Art Gallery, The Kennedy Gallery, Carysfort Gallery and DeVere Art Auctions in Dublin; the Henry Tayler Gallery in Johannesburg; and Art@Constantia, The Cape Gallery, The Clock Tower Gallery and Framecraft in Cape Town.
