03/13 // Present Freelance Animator // GLEN & BeLonG To Youth Service // Dublin, Ireland
I was asked to create 3x30 sec animated videos to promote the launch of a new mental health website for the LGBT community. I received a script, but conceived the idea, and created storyboards, character designs etc. I also sourced the music and voiceover.
12/11 - Present // Visual Director // Freshly Squeezed Film Festival // Dublin, Ireland
Responsible for all visual branding for the festival including logo design, promotional video, outdoor advertising, posters, tickets, bumper screens for screenings.
01/13 – 02/13 // Freelance Animator // Private Client // USA
2D traditional frame-by-frame animation, trace and colouring in Flash. 3 scenes totalling ~10 sec. The advertisement was aired on an American TV station raising awareness of texting while driving.

Two projects including: A 15 sec TV advertisement for onandgone.ie created entirely within After Effects. The project was completed in one day and received approval on first submission. The second was a 30 sec TV advertisement for StarlitJewelry.com. The project incorporated multiple original effects in addition to video content supplied by the client.

Compositing and rendering for a promotion advert for the RTE Christmas Guide. Worked closely with the director and the client to quickly and efficiently achieve the required result on schedule and to a high standard.

In house animation assistant on the first production for a successful distribution company.
Preparation of packs for remote freelance animators, designers and board artists. Animation
assistance and cleanup exporting and rendering. On-the-fly asset creation and design to meet
requirements. Archiving and Database management. Scheduling and Production assitance.

Working from a flattened coloured character to create a layered character in Photoshop with
multiple mouths, hands, etc, then parenting and anchoring the layered character in After Effects. Anticipating the animators needs to create an easy to use and intuitive rigged character.

2007 – 2010 // Arts University College at Bournemouth // BA (Hons) Animation Production
Extended Major Project – Barry's Ices (2010): A four minute short animation produced over a
one-year timeframe. Worked in a senior position as part of a five-person team. Roles included:
Lead animator, Producer, Storyboard artist, Background artist and Character designer.
Dissertation – The Evidence and Impact of the Atomic Bombing of Nagasaki and Hiroshima in
1945 on the Films of Hayao Miyazaki. This dissertation gave me the chance to study in-depth
Japanese post-war history and cinema and build upon my research for my second year essay.
Personal Achievement – Having completed the graduation film on time and attending the
premiere at BFI South Bank, London in June 2010.
2005 – 2006 // Bourneville Centre for the Visual Arts // BTEC National Diploma
Final Major Project – Spaceman (2006): A one and a half minute short animation produced in
Flash with frame-by-frame and tween animation over one year. Produced as a solo project.
Personal Achievement – Completion of first short film.
•Co-founder of the now very successful Freshly Squeezed Student Short Film Festival.
•BA (Hons) Graduation Film 'Barry's Ices' won 2nd Prize in the category of Best Student Animation at Animated Exeter Festival in 2011
•Accomplished Pianist and part-time teacher. Plays at Grade 8 standard, and holds Grade 5 theory and Grade 5 Practice awards.
•Former member of the City of Birmingham Symphony Youth Chorus under the direction of Sir
Simon rattle, Simon Halsey et al.
