My most recent project was as the Team Leader for a corporate transition for the Whitney Young Job Corps Center in Kentucky for Horizons Youth Services, the incoming contractor. This involved supervising a team of 8 professionals who conducted over 150 interviews and made over 100 hires, negotiated new center contracts and handled all of the details of turning over this 15 million dollar per year operation of a residential, educational and vocational training facility housing hundreds of Job Corps students.

While consulting as Deputy Director for this urban Job Corps Center, I was directly responsible to recruit, train, supervise and manage staff within the Education and Training programs including; the Career Development program; the adult basic education and GED program; the High School Diploma program, the vocational training programs; and the Career Transition program. The position involves supervising 4 managers and five separate departments. The Deputy oversees the efforts of 45 staff and is often responsible to supervise the entire Job Corps Center efforts in the absence of the Center Director.

As the Marketing Director, I developed a coordinated plan to promote this Internet Technology Company, on a local and a national level. I was also responsible to develop bid packages and respond to open Requests for Proposals that are issued by governmental entities.

In the role of Director, I was responsible for generating both public and private funding to support this county effort servicing the victims of violent crime. Other responsibilities included staff recruitments and training, supervising five program advocates who provided services to crime victims and the family members of victims. This position entailed extensive grant writing, grant reporting and budgeting as well as managing “safe home” for victims of Domestic Violence and their minor children. During my brief tenure with this organization I was also responsible for managing maintenance and logistics for the agency and a group home for youth, ages 13 through 17, who were determined to be “seriously mentally ill.”

Consultation work included providing technical assistance to Job Corps Centers and companies contracted to operate Job Corps Centers. Consultation was offered in the areas of program administration, program development and management, training and technical assistance, and creating and reviewing proposals for future government funding.

In this role, I was responsible for designing and delivering a wide variety of in-service training for management and line staff. Other specific accomplishments included responding to providing input to contract negotiations and proposals, helping to transition programs from one government contractor to another and designing policy and procedural guidelines for new program operations.
