Freelance Writer and Editor
Bob develops, writes, and edits copy for B2B marketing, family histories and memoirs, end-of-life tributes and information, government correspondence, education documents, and political campaigns. He creates white papers, biographies, memoirs, grant and award proposals and applications, news articles, and press releases. In 2006, he secured part-time employment with Cottonwood Heights City writing and editing news articles, public relations documents, letters, policy statements, and instructional and explanatory papers.He was also accountable for PowerPoint presentations and speeches for the mayor, council, and city manager. He gathered data, took photos, wrote, edited,and assisted with layout of a monthly, eight-page newsletter. That same year he retired from the property management business and began freelancing full time. He also contracted with E & A Services, Inc. Tuscaloosa, AL, to conduct inspections, analyze findings, and write Capital Needs Assessments for 40 – 60 apartment complexes per year over a five year period. The final documents are used for acquiring loans and government reporting.
Key Accomplishments as a full-time freelancer:
• He grew the two-page Cottonwood Heights News Journal to an eight-page, tabloid size, newspaper insert delivered to more than 15,000 doors in the city and adjacent areas.
• He successfully wrote and edited white papers, press releases, advertisements, and various other documents for the Mayor and Council of Cottonwood Heights, a new city.
• He also researched and wrote 8 to 10 grant and award proposals annually, with an 80% success rate.

Bob developed rental documents, notices, and lease agreements. He wrote and edited competitive contract proposals, submitted to federal and state governments; press releases; training curricula, and manuals; and responded to letters and complaints regarding potential legal issues. He also managed 20 - 30 government subsidized apartment complexes in rural Utah and Arizona. In that capacity he prepared and implemented annual budgets for each complex. Enforced penalties for rules violations and infractions and evicted tenants when necessary.
