Art is a medium that allows me to express emotion, baring my soul and thoughts imagery to be interpreted visually. As an artist I am able to allow people to see some of my thoughts as they are unfiltered in my mind.
I've always been an artist. As a five year old child I pulled an old coffee table into my bedroom to set up my first drawing table in "my studio". It held my crayons, pencils, and watercolors...and in my child's mind, I was now "officially" an artist.
My aunt, who was a seasoned watercolorist in her own right, taught me the basics of watercolor and I would sit for hours in her studio watching her paint.
By the age of eight, I had won a city school poster competition, and was awarded five dollars. (When I was a kid, way back then, five dollars was a lot of money!) That was, actually, the beginning of my professional career.
I studied fine art throughout grade school and into high school, the University of Arkansas F.S., Memphis State University, the Memphis Academy of Arts, New Masters Academy and have studied oil under Texas artist, Robert Garden.
My work has been exhibited in the midwest and southern regions of the country as well as in Soho, New York and I am included in collections throughout the country.
Listings have included Marquis’ WHO’S WHO IN AMERICA, WHO'S WHO OF WOMEN IN AMERICA, WHO’S WHO IN THE SOUTH AND SOUTHWEST and WHO'S WHO IN THE WORLD. I have received awards from Seventeen magazine, published in ARTSPEAK, a New York gallery publication, and THE ENCYCLOPEDIA OF LIVING ARTISTS IN AMERICA.
I look at everything with a natural curiosity and sense of perspective on how things could be precisely organized into a pleasing visual composition. My designs, illustrations and paintings are, in a traditional sense, done in pencil, charcoal, acrylic, oil, or watercolor. Watercolor, actually, is my first choice as I enjoy it's spontaneity. Realistic impressionism is my basic genre.
I paint from photographs or real life situations. Children and animals make wonderful models! Anything is possible!
My rates are very negotiable and competitive and I usually charge a flat fee based on the project, but am willing to negotiate hourly rates as well.
I am an excellent artist and will do my very best work for you. I work well with clients and always deliver on time. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at 817 508-0430.
