who I am & how to catch me
My name's Erin Knitis, and I'm a copywriter and brand steward. I live for roller derby, great food and rockabilly music.

where I’ve been seen doing my thing
independent freelance, Atlanta, GA & NY, NY, January 2004-present
Agencies: Cheil Worldwide, Cowboy, Digitas, Spike DDB, Source Communications, Uproar
Over the years, I’ve created advertising, branding and unique voices for the following brands: Acuvue Contact Lenses, American Express Business Platinum Card, Hair Club, Hasbro, Home Depot partnering with AOL, HP, ING Direct, Monster in partnership with eBay, Samsung, Subway (but you can’t blame me for Jared) and Virgin Mobile.

The Seiden Group, NY, NY, July 2010-August 2011
As sole copywriter on all accounts, including two successful multimillion-dollar-account pitches, I was always busy. Chiefly, I maintained distinct branding and voices for five brands under the Visiting Nurse Service of New York umbrella. For each VNSNY Brand, I crafted successful campaigns that included online, out of home, radio, brochures and direct mail. I helped introduce Crystalens premium cataract replacement lenses with an integrated campaign credited with moving more than 15,000 units in one year, smashing expectations. After a year in development, we launched for Shire pharmaceuticals, honoring unsung non-professional caregivers and branding Shire as a compassionate corporation.

TBWA\CHIAT\DAY, NY, NY, January-September 2008, Dec. ’08-Jan. ’09, May ’09-Jan. ’10
As a freelance ACD managing 3 creative teams, I developed the Brand voice and guidelines for Vonage, as well as advertising across all channels. I helped win several pitches, including Michelin, Cablevision and Majestic Steel, and created integrated campaigns for Tassimo (home brewing system), American Management Association (training specialists) and (luxury rentals). I also served as the go-to CRM microsite and newsletter maven for Sprint.

Digitas, Inc., NY, NY, February 2005-February 2007
As an Associate, then full Copywriter, I worked on the following American Express Brands: 2006 TriBeCa Film Festival,, Consumer Cards, OPEN and the launch of the One Card. I helped brand and launch GameTap and Turner Broadband Sports, and won several pitches.

Suburbia Roller Derby, Westchester County, NY, February 2011-present
Not only do I skate for two teams, in 2011, I managed the All-Star travel team and served as Head of PR. In 2012, they elected me President. Under my watch, we’ve grown our Facebook and Twitter fan base by more than 1,000, hosted various celebrities to blow game-starting whistles and established relationships with media outlets from to ESPN.

where & what I learned
The Creative Circus, Atlanta, GA
Graduated March 2004. Won gold and silver student awards and had a crash course in art direction.

Kennesaw State University, Kennesaw, GA
Earned a B.A. in English with a Communication minor, and a spot in Sigma Tau Delta, the national English honor society.

what I did in my former life
Before ad school, I was a financial controller, an assistant to several lovely people and a few jerks, even a tennis instructor one summer. Many bars were tended, thousands of tables waited and hundreds of outfits sold. I also traveled quite a bit, amassing hundreds of stories, and honed my culinary skills through trial, error and listening at the feet of pros.

where you can find me in my spare time
When not giving tours of my ever-growing shoe collection, I’m a religious roller derby skater and fan, avid reader and TV-watcher and conqueror of crossword puzzles. I bake and cook as much as my schedule allows, and am a regular human guinea pig for new restaurants and diversions.
