I held position as Designer/Drafter Technologist/Technician (CADD) for Civil Engineering Projects within different municipalities of the Lower Mainland within Engineering, Land Development, Transportation and Planning Divisions.

Translating engineering sketches and mark-ups into documented drawings, including preliminary, general arrangement drawings, substructure/superstructure/assembly drawings, plans/profiles/sections, key maps, concrete slab foundations for structures, bridges, road works, signage and pavement. These areas included the design calculations in accordance with the project requirements and specifications in accordance with the applicable codes and standards.

I held contract position as Structural CADD Designer in the Structural Division working on the John Hart Hydroelectric Dam Redevelopment Project and Pascua Lama Mine Conveyor Tunnels. I translated engineering sketches and mark-ups into documented detailed design drawings. This includes Power Tunnels: Alignments, Plan/Profile General Arrangement drawings and transitions from power intakes, penstocks, powerhouse structure/assembly drawings.

I held the position as CADD Technician in the Structural Division working on the Kitimat Modernization Project. I translated engineering sketches and mark-ups into documented detailed design drawings. This included schematics, wiring, single line diagrams, general arrangement drawings, structure/assembly drawings, plan and profiles, foundation layouts for a proto-type portable split steel electrical housing buildings, which included component plans, elevations, details, and welds utilizing predefined standards.

I prepared reports and briefs to the project manager, outlining problems and deficiencies within the design, while itemizing all components and materials to assist in providing drawings and technical advice for the production team.

I held the position as Designer III for the Ports & Harbours Division. I interpreted mechanical/structural engineering data, sketches and mark-ups into documented detailed design drawings. This included schematics, flow and single line diagrams, general arrangement drawings, substructure/superstructure, assembly drawings, plan and profiles, maps, and foundations.
I used systematic approaches to problem solving in accordance with recognized standards and practices for railways, coal dumper buildings, conveyors, towers, cranes, tunnels, while understanding the roles of a multi-disciplinary team. I collected and organized project-related information according to approved techniques for project record drawings.

McElhanney Consulting Services Ltd, Surrey, B.C . April/2006 - December/2011

I held the position as the Senior Structural CADD Tech III in the Infrastructure/Structural Division using my proficiencies in the use of Civil 3D AutoCAD, relational geo-databases and Excel. My knowledge exceeded in accessing and working with spatial data holdings and other sources such as base maps, data from utilities, cadastral, orthographic, and Lidar coverages.

Translated engineering sketches and mark-ups into documented drawings, including preliminary, general arrangement drawings, substructure/superstructure/assembly drawings, plans/profiles/sections, key maps, concrete slab foundations for structures, bridges, road works, signage and pavement. These areas included the design calculations in accordance with the project requirements and specifications in accordance with the applicable codes and standards.

Provided engineers with fabrication drawings, as well as performed onsite inspections of bridges, overpasses, and underpasses in the Lower-Mainland and Northern B.C. regions. As well as performed onsite inspections for pre-assessing conditions of surrounding homes at project locations on Vancouver Island, and prepared detailed reports.

Assembled construction and drawing packages for seal and sign-off to support the development and construction of projects, as required. I managed and updated all base CAD files, as-built archiving, and PDF files.

I was contracted to the H5M team designing and drafting for the PortMann/Highway 1 project.

I also enjoyed training (EIT) students and drafting teams on procedures and standards for structural projects.

I held the position as a CADD Technician for the Structural Division designing stainless steel tanks for water purification systems. This entailed marking plans and preparing detailed drawings of connections and bracing of new and existing building structures including layouts, concrete reinforcing, platform and walkways design, and structural detail designs.

I held the position as CADD Technician for the Telecommunications Division for the Bell Mobility Western Expansion project. I prepared preliminary to detailed design drawings with the understanding of the importance of working in compliance with applicable laws, standards, by-laws and codes.

My organizational and time-management strategies worked effectively in preparing preliminary to detailed design drawings for PCS sites on rooftops, monopoles, guyed wire towers, self-supporting towers.

This entailed translating engineering sketches and mark-ups into documented detailed design drawings (including legends, key maps, general arrangements, plan and profiles, structure/assembly drawings, foundations and grounding systems) including the plan and elevation views by utilizing predefined standards.
