Registered Nurse: Med/Surg
06/2005 – 05/2008 Keweenaw Memorial Medical Center, Laurium, MI
Performed total patient care and team leadership duties on the Med/Surg floor of a critical access hospital. I also floated to OB/ICU/ED on a regular basis. I worked midnight shifts and was responsible for assessing emergent health issues and notifying the on-call physician as needed. I also performed routine patient assessments, administered medications, started IV’s and NG tubes, performed bandage changes and a host of other RN duties.
While at Keweenaw, I attended the Rural Institute on Alcohol and Drug Rehab at UW-Stout. Shortly thereafter, I became the hospitals leading addictions nurse and developed the hospital-wide alcohol and drug withdrawal protocols. I also developed many other protocols to meet JCAHO, Medicare and standard nursing practice guidelines.

Prior to working as a nurse, I worked at a variety of positions. From 2001 to 2005 I worked as a home health aide, nurse aide, and residential coordinator for the mentally handicapped. Prior to that, I worked as a freelance writer. I was one of's adult guides where I was responsible for link building and developing readership. I also excepted a wide variety of work-from-hire jobs from freelance boards such as, including natural health abstracts.
