1995 – present newspaper journalist, served with eight different print newspapers in a variety of roles – writer, copy editor, news and education editor, sports and features editor, lifestyle editor and editor. Won two sports photography awards and two team news reporting honors. At the last three publications, I implemented social media avenues for promoting events, gathering news tips and sharing information.. Earlier career experience includes childcare, church ministry positions as well as writing/reading workshop leader for students and teachers at schools in Dodge, Troup, Sumter and Evans counties. Also served as the recruiting assistant/camp administrator for two collegiate football teams.
Annual Girls' Day Speaker at Whitesville Road Elementary School in LaGrange,Georgia. The focus was on growth and motivating the girls to achieve goals. More than 250 to 400 girls participated. (2009, 2010)
Led numerous workshops involving writing, and encouragement for adult education students and G.E.D. Students in Dodge and Sumter counties. (2004-2006, 2008-2009); guest lecturer for 'at-risk' classes of high school students at Claxton High School in Claxton, Georgia – involved blogging, web-writing and story-telling (2011)
minister of children at church, staff volunteer with the Dodge Baptist Association (2007), implemented a women's issue group, led training sessions, led studies and organized events.
Planned and implemented 8 coaching clinics, 4 player try-outs, 4 athletic combines while working as recruiting assistant for Randy Pippin, football coach, during his tenure at Middle Georgia College and the University of West Alabama.
Assisted four organizations in LaGrange and Americus and Claxton with implementing Facebook pages, including the Troup County Relay for Life and Eastside Baptist Church.
