Sponsored by the University of Lincoln, I travelled to Bangalore, south India to carry out charity work for three months. For Voices, a community radio NGO, I overhauled their website and taught visually challenged students to use radio equipment to produce nationally broadcast programmes. The Parikrma Humanity Foundation then approached me to create a fundraising video to promote and raise funds for the Foundation. With fellow volunteers, I made planning arrangements with the local community and shot and edited the video.
Living and working in India required a substantial level of commitment, confidence and determination and further developed my project management skills. I then travelled through Asia and became a qualified SCUBA diver in a nature reserve in the Perhentian Islands, Malaysia.
