I am currently a third year undergraduate student at The Ohio State University, and I am graduating in the spring with a BA in German and a minor in Communications. I have studied Japanese for the past eight years, but did not finish a minor or a major in the subject. I studied abroad in Bonn, Germany the spring/summer semester of 2011 at the University of Bonn. I was in Marburg, Germany for a month to live with a family two years ago, and attended school with the family's daughter. While I have not chosen to finish my minor in Japanese, I have studied it for quite some time. As a post secondary education option program student at Raymond Walters College through the University of Cincinnati from 2007 to 2009 studying Japanese, I won an award for Outstanding Achievements in Japanese. In 2009, I won third place in a Japanese Speech Contest at The Ohio State University. I attended Mori no Ike, a Japanese immersion camp, for two weeks in the summer of 2006. I held a Japanese club at my high school my sophomore, junior, and senior years, where I would teach curious students about the culture and language. My junior and senior years in high school I tutored students who were struggling with German, and I taught private Japanese lessons. I also tutored a Japanese exchange student who was having trouble learning English.
