I’ve assisted organizations by building processes and procedures which improve operational activities, accuracy of financial transactions and reporting, and HR activities. I have experience mitigating risk and ensuring proper controls are present in industries ranging from state government agencies to call centers to education to non-profit originations. I strive to ensure all processes are efficient, effective and relevant.

In a call center environment supporting a customer in the mobile communications industry, I was responsible for maintaining internal controls compliance by managing and performing testing as well as analyzing test results and mitigating identified risks to ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) by ensuring the following:
• processes & procedures are documented, accurate, effective and relevant
• job roles are well defined and no conflicts of interest exist
• floor to book AND book to floor inventory counts occur
• accesses to secure areas is monitored
• workplace security measures exist to mitigate the possibility of fraud
• ensuring client and customer invoices are correct and reconciled
• ensuring we are meeting our contractual service level agreements
I achieve these goals though
• developing test plans and strategies
• management of administrative help in testing
• developing and implementing employee training
• developing project plans to correct defects, including Gantt charts and cost associations
• direct communication with local management, the client and other contractors
• utilizing Microsoft Office Software, including: Excel, Word, Access, Power Point and Visio

In a State Government environment, at which we managed State Appropriations; Federal, Local, Tribal and Private Grant and Project monies as well as profits from a bookstore on site, I was accountable for timely and accurate execution of all accounting transactions including
• accounts payable and receivable
• cash handling and deposits
• reconciliation of all accounts, including grants, projects, contracts and other appropriations
• staff payroll and contractor payments
• invoicing customers/clients
I was responsible for maintaining internal controls compliance by ensuring the following:
• full and partial inventory counts were performed on bookstore inventory items as well as fixed assets
• proper State procurement rules followed for all purchases
Furthermore, I assisted in bringing in money in the following ways:
• supporting the development and management of annual agency-wide budget
• assisted in creation of grant or proposals, including preparing the budget
• developed revenue-generating ideas for the bookstore, including social media campaigns
I accomplished these goals by
• management of administrative and financial assistants
• developing and implementing employee training
• developing project plans to, including Gantt charts and cost associations
• direct communication with local management, grant administrators, customers, various other levels of State Government officials
• utilizing Intuit’s Quickbooks and Point of Sale Software as well as Microsoft Office Software, including: Excel, Word, Access, Power Point and Visio, including building many Microsoft Access databases from scratch to manage internal accounting records

In a not-for-profit theatre environment, I was responsible for processing all accounting transactions, including...
• payments to vendors and actors
• processing payroll
• closing all monthly transactions and reporting to accountant
• payments received from donors, grants and customers
• transfers between accounts
• cash deposits
In addition, I also created process to streamline maintenance of donors/advertisers/season ticket holders by creating a Microsoft Access database from scratch.
