I recently finished an MA in Applied Translation Studies and, at the moment, I am looking for a job in the field. I did a BA in Modern Languages and got a specialisation in Translation. I have had different job experiences since I graduated until I decided the career path I wanted was translation. As a translator I have worked for many areas. I worked for a year for Maersk, Inc, which is a worldwide maritime transport company translating security manuals for their vessels. Here in London, I completed my Work Placement at an agency called Spanish Express, translating and proofreading mostly legal documents and also their own website, as well as managing and creating terminology databases. At the moment, I am working on some projects on a freelance basis for an architect's office called LAB.PRO.FAB and with the Economist Intelligence Unit. Regarding my language pair, I am completely comfortable working with both English into Spanish and viceversa. I have a strong passion for linguistics and I am always keen to acquire more language skills. I believe I would suit perfectly for this job because I am a very organised person and I work very well under pressure and with difficult deadlines. Regarding computer literacy, I have a high proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Outlook), database software, Internet tools and CAT tools such as SDL Trados and Wordfast. I am also willing to learn to use new software or technical equipment.
