I am a Certified Translator since September 2001. I speak and write fluently in English, Spanish, French and Italian.
I first started working as a Bilingual Assistant ECLAC (Economic Commission for Latin America & The Caribbean) in Mexico to the Head of the Agricultural FAO/ECLAC Joint Division for ten years then I moved to Nairobi, Kenya and worked for UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme) as a Senior Spanish Assistant to the Head of the Conference Section. I was later promoted as the Supervisor of both the Translation team and the Secretarial Pool of all six UN official languages.
Since October 2001 when I obtained my diploma in Translation, I have been working as a freelance translator. In Mexico I translated documents English-Spanish-English for the Biochemistry Department of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (the National University in Mexico); for companies selling medical instruments and for companies selling construction materials. In Italy I translated legal documents English-Italian-English while living in Rome. Since living in the UK I have been translating technical documents English-Spanish for a company who manufactures and distributes sewage treatment plants all over Europe and have proofread the French versions. I have also worked as an interpreter for that company both on the phone and in Spain to support the sales team in promoting their products.
I went to an American school & university in Mexico and so have spoken English most of my life. I also lived in the US for five years, in East Africa for three. All my family lives in the UK and I am a permanent resident since December 2009.
