My name is Shawn Michael Haney. I have been grateful to have some creativity, and to be an artist and up and coming songwriter. I am a singer based in Marietta, Ga. I have been fascinated with music since first hearing Sgt. Pepper, John Denver and Neil Diamond tunes found in my mother and father's record collection when I was four. I began to play guitar and tinker on piano at age 12. I am 36 now, a graduate of Georgia State University in 2000 with a b.a in Print Journalism. I have enjoyed writing music reviews, bios and band interviews for Performer magazine in Boston for ten years since 2000. I am very interested in taking my reviews and songs to a higher level, and for employment and a good paycheck.
I love writing songs and poetry. I believe I have a pretty good ear for writing and composing original songs and singing with harmonies. I have a site of my music under my artist name....Brown Apple ....go to www.reverbnation.com/brownapple..
I have worked with local artists such at YOU (currenlty active as the Yacht Rock Review), Today the Moon, Tommorow the Sun, Paul Warner, Corner Kid, John Micahel Rose, Kevin Dunbar, Angie Aparo, The Whigs, Rufus Ray, and Chelsea Shag.
I like to write and sing in the styles of my favorites, James Taylor, CSN, the Beatles, Oasis, Coldplay, The Ghess Who, the Hollies, Pearl Jam, Fountains of Wayne, Glen Campbell, Simon and Garfunkle. I love the oldies,, 50's and 60's and believe much of that music is lost and needs to be heard again from fresh new artists. I also love using fragments of souns, chords and moods of jazz and classical in my songs...I have found that sometimes much of my singing melodies stragely come out of nowhere from some magical place..and then I usually I descover them on Miles Davis or Claude Debussey records.
I am a member of the Songs for Kids Foundation Team in Atlanta, where artists come together bring joy and healing to patients and their families in children's hospitals. We also direct a 10 night event every May in Atlanta for artists local and abroad to raise money.
I am also a longtime member of the Cartersville Songwriter's Exchange with meetings every wednesday night.
I have been a member of my church choir at Transfiguration Catholic Church since 1994. I continue play gigs and open mics in Marietta often throughout the year. I enjoy playing at Smith's Olde Bar and covering bands in the Atlanta local music scene, and I enjoy Eddie's Attic and their company as well in Decatur Ga.
Currently I learning to record and produce my songs for a new record with new software under Mixcraft5. I would love to have in ready to release by Christmas.
