Graphic Art and Advertising
My Graphic Art career started as a paste-up artist for UBD in Sydney. I worked up to finished art standard on newspapers and magazines, including finished artist for Rugby Press working on the publications Rugby News, Boating New Zealand and Blood horse and a number of other sporting magazines and books.
Then I went on to work predominantly on retail accounts as art director and visualiser for Food town, Deka and K Mart. This included work on 4 colour catalogues, Direct Marketing, Point of Sale and general advertising material, from concept, design through to overseeing production.
In 1998 I re-trained and gained computer graphic skills at New Horizons. I have experience with all the Adobe graphic software programs and a fully set-up computer graphics system at home.
I undertook a number of freelance contracts including work for Jetset type and design studio to assist in the production of the in flight magazine Freedom Air and some design work on company logos and promotional material.
I have done a lot of work for the Waikato Branch of the Thoroughbred Breeders Assoc. in the past including the complete re-design and production of their monthly magazine Bloodline in 2000. Further work involved concept/design/Illustration and finished artwork for the printed material for the Waikato branches of the NZTBA’S G1 Awards Dinner, a prestigious industry event held annually at Le Grand Hotel. This included Dinner tickets, programmes, placemats and advertising.
I also produced all my own Menus, brochures, advertisements and signage for my catering and café businesses.
More recently I have used Microsoft Publisher to produce various flyers, brochures and advertising material for family and friends and myself.
I have a good knowledge of pre-press print requirements, sound design skills including good use of colour and creative flair. I have considerable experience dealing with clients and meeting deadlines. I have a portfolio and samples of all my work I can show you.
