The Lebanon Democrat (Lebanon, TN) | Managing Editor | 2006–2012
- Manage a nine-person staff overseeing an award-winning daily and two weekly newspapers.
- Supervise a $250,000 annual budget.
- Create marketing and branding strategies to boost readership.
- Write more than 95% of editorials.
- Accomplishments include:
o Conceived and completed a complete redesign of all three newspapers in less than six weeks.
o Launched video coverage on the daily newspaper’s website as well as a daily television news show highlighting each day’s headlines.
o Partnered on the development and implementation of a cloud-based content management system.
o Presided over a paper that won 63 awards from 2008-2011; personally received 12 awards for editorial or column writing from 2008-2011.

The Enterprise Ledger (Enterprise, AL) | Managing Editor | 1997–1998
- Managed all aspects of newspaper operation – except for direct supervision of advertising staff – with primary emphasis on editorial content. Responsible for overall financial position of the 9,500 Tuesday–Friday, and 10,500 on Sunday circulation newspaper.
- Accomplishments included:
o Established paper’s first Community Advisory Board.
o Circulation grew 2.41 percent daily and 6.45 percent Sunday in the Ledger’s two districts in six months.
o Paper exceeded both revenue and operating profit goals for the four months of the 1998 fiscal year.
The Dothan Progress (Dothan, AL) | Managing Editor | 1997
- Managed all aspects of newsroom operations, overseeing a five-person staff at a 30,000-circulation weekly paper.
- Served on the editorial board and wrote editorials three weeks per month.
- Accomplishments included:
o Changed the focus of 1A stories from features to news-oriented articles.
o Conceived, organized and moderated the first-ever newspaper-sponsored candidates’ forum, widely hailed by the media and the public; led to promotion at The Enterprise Ledger.
