I have a Diploma in Nursing from the Brackenridge Hospital School of Nursing and a Bachelor's Degree in English from the University of Texas at Austin. I retired from nursing in 1996, but still have a keen interest in medicine and nursing topics. I have 25 years’ experience writing on public policy in health care and disability topics, producing reports, manuals and legislative analyses. While employed by the Texas Disability Policy Consortium, I wrote extensively on disability rights topics, performed legislative analyses and produced newsletters, training materials, reports, and proposals for funding the Consortium. I also have strong interests in history, archeology and nature and have written pieces on these topics for About.com. I am currently researching an historical novel set in Galveston, Texas.
