Karen Glover has 15 years of marketing, copywriting and advertising agency experience developing brand image, product management, public/media relations, marcom, and driving trial for the US Census, Verizon, Avis, Budget, Applebee’s, GSK, AstraZeneca, SIAC, EarthSearch Communications, Starbucks, Ketchum PR, KOOL, KMART, American Express, Motorola, Bell Atlantic Mobile Systems, PepsiCo, Burger King, Paramount and Universal Film, Motown Records, Microsoft and a few others in the African American market.
Karen’s communications career began as editor-in-chief of Black Beat, an urban teen entertainment magazine; which led to music industry spots including soundtrack coordinator for Music In Cinema, where she co-produced three major motion picture soundtracks by organizing the execution of copyrights, licensing and contracts. She also served as manager of editorial services at UNCF, and marketing director for Motown Records, and marketing manager at GRP Records. Earlier in her career she was a buyer for the Neiman Marcus Epicure Department.
As a communications specialist, Karen has full knowledge of stylebook usage and relevant electronic media placement tools including, AMA, Associated Press, MLA, Vocus, Lexis Nexis, ProfNet, Highbeam, Media Map, PR Newswire, Bacons, Factiva, etc. She has produced successful product launches, KOL and DTC healthcare events, festivals, special events, advertising campaigns, corporate collateral and other appropriate Marcoms to support sales efforts in retaining current customers and acquiring new customers.
Creatively trained at Pratt Institute, she provides expert direction in the design, selection, editing, and methods of distribution for marketing collateral. She has been responsible for the selection and management of internal and external teams towards successful project execution. Her interface skills encourage strong relationships with marketing communication vendors, advertising and PR agencies, corporate clients, promotional companies, event planners, communications firms, along with varied media outlets and journalists.
Karen holds an M.A. in Internet Marketing from University of San Francisco, and a second in Corporate & Organizational Communications from Fairleigh Dickinson Univ., her B.A. in Merchandising & Retail Management was earned at Pratt Institute. She enjoys writing, fact checking, gardening, cooking, reading, traveling and mentoring others. She is an active member of Christian Cultural Center in Brooklyn, NY.
