I was a Financial Services Representative with the Northwestern Mutual Financial Network. As a self-employed professional, I was responsible for helping individuals as well as small businesses. Through a comprehensive evaluation, I helped them identify any holes in their financial plan. I set appointments through cold-calling and referrals, established a relationship where possible, evaluated their plans and goals, then followed up with a proposal. Once established as clients, I stayed in touch on a regular basis to help with their changing needs. I supervised both the Quality Control and Color Matching departments that jointly contained14 technicians. My duties included all personnel management as well as project scheduling, color approval, and liaison between all other departments. We checked approximately 60 batches per day and output 8-10 color matches per day. I also assisted the Quality Manager with Nazdar’s ISO 9002 implementation. This included writing work instructions and training the entire facility to prepare for the year-end deadline.

At Forest Hill Cemetery, I started as a pre-need counselor selling the complete line of property and services offered by the cemetery. I quickly moved into a Family Service position in addition to working as a pre-need counselor. Family Service duties included helping families at need to arrange for spaces, merchandise and service arrangements. I transferred to another location after four months; Mt. Moriah Terrace Park. This location had a funeral home in addition to a memorial park cemetery. I intended to learn the funeral side of pre-need and at-need. I worked as a family service counselor as well as selling both cemetery services and funerals pre-need. I obtained my Life Insurance license at this time.

I worked for APV as a Technical Sales Representative. APV manufactured a variety of coatings including paints, inks, caulks and adhesives. I was responsible for expanding their screen printing ink business through direct and distributor sales in the entire US. I assisted with the development of marketing strategies, including advertising and marketing materials. I also covered several tire-manufacturing accounts – selling tire inks, cements and lubricants. I implemented a sales contact/customer service/sample database utilizing MS ACCESS, which would allow us to better track our marketing efforts.

Summit Screen Inks
Summit, a division of Flint Ink, Inc., manufactured UV, waterbase and solvent screen printing inks. I began as the first Customer Service Representative with actual industry experience. After six months, I was given responsibility of the Lab Technicians and Sample personnel (seven employees). I oversaw the scheduling and implementation of all lab projects including color matches, substrate testing and sample shipments. I also took over as Facilitator of the Quality Program after a year. These responsibilities included employee involvement teams, SPC, quality training, Quality Manual and ISO 9000 Implementation. At the same time, I was able to convince management that we needed to establish a LAN to aid in all aspects of sales and lab support. I took on the role of Network Administrator and established a LANtastic, Peer-to-Peer, PC network linking the lab, administrative/sales/customer service and Production. I was then given outside Technical Representative status in 1994 and began
traveling extensively as technical distributor support. Beginning January 1995, I was given a specific Technical Sales territory and began covering both direct
accounts and distributors as a commissioned Representative. Through all this I maintained my status as Network Administrator and Quality Facilitator.
