My name is Shaun Buchanan and I am a 2010 graduate of New Media Journalism and Radio Broadcasting. This has helped me to enhance my capabilities in the media field. I would like to be considered for the Journalist position. I am interested in this position due to the fact it is directly related to my degree discipline and in turn I fresh eye and mind full of enthusiasm, dedication and drive.
My work experience and academic background is varied but this has led me to broaden my skill set and pick up related qualities that I needed in all jobs, such as communication attention to detail and administrative software in regards to the Microsoft suite.
I thoroughly enjoy sports writing as it is dynamic and exciting. Currently I write freelance for 2 publications Uve’ Got Swagga and Demand Studio’s this allows me to continue my strong passion for writing sport and feature articles.
My previous work experience was at the BBC where I worked as a trainee journalist for 4 months. My role consisted of research, report drafting, video editing using the software package (cool pro edit) and interviewing players of Charlton football club such as Chris Powell. My report on Charlton V Birmingham 05/06 was uploaded on to the BBC website by Mark Asheden, my tenure here wetted my appetite to becoming a sports journalist and I was encouraged to take it up professionally by Mark Asheden and Paul Fletcher.
All these factors combine has made me a more rounded candidate.
I look forward to your reply thank you.
