Jessika Heholt was born in Kingston, Jamaica in 1990. When she was 15 she moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida and after graduating went on to pursue a college degree.
In 2011 Jessika received her Bachelors of Fine Art in painting from Savannah College of Art and Design. She uses representation and allegory as a means of confession. Her work documents experiences and affections by arranging sentimental objects in space. Their colors, shapes, texture and dialogue mimic frustrations, pleasures and situations. Interaction between them and the drama of human gesture further demonstrate sensation.
So far Jessika’s work has been featured in Films, books and weddings. She most recently exhibited work in a group show titled Morphological Compulsions and Other Dubious Beckonings and in an Auction and exhibition at Chroma Gallery. After graduation Jessika plans to continue painting, exploring the medium as a means of communication.
