A multifaceted creative designer, Sabyasachi has over two decades of experience in designing information from conceptualization to execution across different mediums and formats, from newspapers, magazines, books to web-based publications. Educated at NID under legendary design administrator Ashoke Chatterjee, his design serves functional utility wrapped in subtle aesthetics. As a result, the end-products have always been a delight to the target audience.
Sabyasachi is credited with introduction of blurbs in business newspapers in India way back in 1994 in Business Standard, redesign of Computers Today, the then premium infotech magazine from India Today Group, driving its sales up, design of Design Digest, profitable from second month, Mantra, a men’s magazine, Pitch (Advertising & Marketing magazine) with shoestring budget, retail e-magazine Mall Marketing Digest and Air Deccan’s in-flight magazine Simply fly. Times of India’s guide book on eating places, which was designed by him, is a case of practical application of design —marrying utility with aesthetics and thereby delighting its users.
A versatile creative thinker, he was instrumental in the design of Hindustan Times’ Mumbai edition and benchmarking the design with international standards. He created processes to sustain quality. Passionate, team player with hands-on approach, Sabyasachi’s forte has been varied from typography, illustrations to supplement text using various mediums, assisting editorial to bring clarity in the thoughts to guiding aesthetics of the product.
Although he has spent a major part of his career in news publishing industry, his intellectual depth and consumer insight makes him equally suitable for managing and implementing the science and aesthetics of design in other vehicles of communication.
