PROJECTS
Capstone Project, 2001
My senior public art project, Sleep *****, was noted in an article of the Daily, a campus journal published for students at the University of Washington.
Indian Child Welfare Fundraiser, 2009-2010
For two consecutive years I provided graphic design and marketing assistance to the DSHS Office of Indian Child Welfare for the purposes of hosting a fundraiser for micro-funds.
Combined Fund Drive Juried Art Exhibit and Auction, 2010
I won 2nd place in the 2-D category for a charcoal drawing submitted, entitled “Earth Mother.” The jury included members of the Seattle Arts Commission and proceeds were donated to the Combined Fund Drive.
Prayer Wheels Presentation, 2011
A video photomontage and Power Point presentation were donated to a local agency to further the foundation's fundraising efforts; I was responsible for all aspects of the presentation, including the photography and graphic design.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Department of Social Health and Human Services 2006-May 2011
Currently, I am a social worker for DSHS at the Office of Indian Child Welfare for their Family Reconciliation Services program. I am leaving to pursue creative projects.
United Indians of All Tribes Foundation- Art Therapist 2005-2006
I completed a clinical practicum as an interning therapist for their counseling program and youth home, which entailed recognizing mental health needs and delivering social service to families. I have participated in adding an art therapy component to existing programs.
Art Instructor for Seattle Parks and Recreation Summer Pilot Program 2003
Providing art education for summer pilot program as well as one on one instruction and collaborating with camp director in organizing, planning, and structuring the program curriculum.
Intern for 911 Media Arts Center 2002
Administrative Support/Front Desk, which entailed receiving clients, scheduling, data entry (File Pro), preparing and coordinating with guest speakers, billing and payment for classes offered.
John Gottman Research Assistant 1999-2001:
Family Formation Project at the University of Washington
Coding experimental data taken from VHS videotapes of parent-child interactions. I was promoted to a trainer position towards the end of my term.
Clinician’s Assistant 1998-1999:
Gerry Dawson Autism Lab at the University of Washington
Assisting with EEG trials, prepping sites where studies were held, organizing experimenter materials as well as setting up recording equipment for sessions.
Case Aide for Social Work Agencies: Non-Profit & Government Funded 1997-2003
Throughout my studies I worked part-time as a registered nurses assistant providing meals, med administration, transportation, hygiene, and companionship for geriatrics, at-risk youth, and disabled adults.
