Responsibilities: Pressure Vessels and Heat Exchaingers.
This includes doing layouts, design and detail drawings. Running the drawing office
(3 Draughtsmen) Checking their work and ensuring that the tasks at hand are
completed on time and responsible for the correctness of these tasks. Assist our
workshop when there are queries and problems.
Modification and enhancement of the 3D (Inventor) package to automate the design
and drawings. This package is used to design and produce drawings automatically by
only adding info on a spreadsheet. This was used for pressure vessels and heat
exchangers.
2007-April 2014
Project Engineer, Heurtey Petrochem, Long Term Full Time Contract
Responsibilities: Mechanical Design of Fired Heaters for the Petrochemical industry.
This includes doing layouts, design and detail drawings. Running the drawing office
(2 Draughtsmen) Checking their work and ensuring that the tasks at hand are
completed on time and responsible for the correctness of these tasks. Assist our
manufacturers when there are queries and problems. Spend time on site with the Site
manager to help that the Fired Heaters are erected correctly and sort out any queries
that might arise.
2002-2007
Design Draughtsman/Project Manager/Drawing office Manager, Turnmill
Proquip Contract
Responsibilities: Running various projects, had up to 20 Draughtsmen preforming
designs and drawings. Projects were for international companies such as Alesa, Ship
unloaders – Krupp international, Tripper cars, Conveyors and Structural frames. My
duties were to create 3D models, run the drawing office and check the drawings. Also
liaise with the workshop. Help and assist the workshop manager with design and
manufacturing queries.

2001-2002
Senior Design Draughtsman, Ermetek Vickers, Contract
Responsibilities: Implementing new 3D packages and train the draughtsmen on
3D Package. Leading a team of Design Draughtsmen to create 3d models and
Detail Drawings. Design Security Vehicles for the South African Defence force.
These 3D models were create such to minimize design and drawing time to
convert to different type of vehicles.
1998-2001
Senior Design Draughtsman/Project Leader; Turnmill Proquip’ Contract
Responsibilities: Modeling & Designing of Ship Unloaders for Swiss Company,
Canada. Ship Unloader unloads Aluminium ore from ships at a rate of 500 tonnes
per hour. I was the Drawing Project Leader with a team of 8 Design Draughtsmen
on the project. Checking of drawings, liaise with workshop and Engineer Project
Leader. These ship unloaders were previously designed on a 2D software package
taking 12 to 18 months to design and detailed. We shortened the design period to
3 months with a 99.5% accuracy drawings. We designed 5 Ship Unloaders: 2 for
Mozambique, 1 for Argentina, 1 for Canada & 1 for Norway.
1998-2001
Senior Design Draughtsman/Checker, Debtek De Beers, Contract
Responsibilities: Involve in Design, Drafting & Commissioning of a Practical
XRAY Diamond Sorting Machine. This machine was later converted to a
Medical xray machine station at Grootte Schuur Hospital

Trainee Draughtsman/Senior Draughtsman, Ermetek, Contract
Responsibilities: Were Trained as a Design Draughtsman. Doing drawings for
Armscor. Designing the Rooikat, G6 military vehicles.
