Statement of Professional Interest

I am, and I have always been, an artist. My work focuses on concept art and illustration and particularly on character and environment design. My objective is to add my art, skill, imagination and passion to a super creative design team in a cutting edge game company as an illustrator or concept artist.

I have intensely studied fine art and techniques for eight years and feel that my traditional fine art skills – particularly traditional and digital illustration - are exceptional. I am expert in Adobe Photoshop, Final Cut Pro and Paint Tool Sai; I am professionally proficient and still working to master Zbrush, Blender, Adobe Flash and Adobe Illustrator. In all of these, I am self-taught; I consider one of my strengths to be my ability to learn and then master new programs and techniques.

I also write and illustrate my own fantasy stories and I am an avid gamer.

Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA)

I have earned my BFA from Tufts University in a program offered jointly with The School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; studio courses are taken at SMFA and liberal arts courses at Tufts University.

My studio work has focused on building and refining fine art skill sets directly applicable to my professional interests and creative passion. Courses have included, but are not limited to, figure drawing, painting, illustration, animation and site design (including C++ and html) using programs like Dreamweaver and Processing. Liberal arts courses have included Computer Assisted Design, Europe in the High Middle Ages (inspiration for my own concepts), a number of art history and English courses, Elementary Japanese (for many years, I have enjoyed watching drawing Anime) and Environmental Biology.

I was accepted to and completed SMFA’s Senior Thesis Program; an exclusive program where select students choose their own project to work on for a full year. This is only available to those who fulfill certain credit requirements, as well as those who have a full and well-reviewed body of work. My project consisted of a series of four digitally drawn portraits of female fantasy characters displayed on a digital picture frame projecting subtle morphing animations.

I sung in the BB&N choir for four years and in the school’s all female a capella group, Voices of the Knight, for three years. I played interscholastic sports: junior varsity crew and lacrosse as well as two years of varsity volleyball. I volunteered at the Animal Rescue League of Boston for two years.
