Steele Media Inc. 1992-November 2014
I was responsible for the media management of 20 consumer shows throughout both Canada and the United States. This includes market trips to negotiate both media buys and promotions, planning and client service. Maintaining media budgets in excess of 3.5 million annually I worked on a retail pizza account and a number or homebuilders.
Responsible for all planning, buying (mainstream online and ethnic), client presentations and media budgets on a number of other active accounts.
Advocacy Inc. 1992-2002
Responsible for all planning, buying (both mainstream and ethnic), client presentations and media budgets on a number of active accounts, including the Ontario Teacher’s Federation.
1991-1992 McCann Erickson Advertising, Buying Group Manager.
Responsible for all network television purchases, directing and managing the selective buyers and buying supervisors, in relation to my account list.
Maintaining annual television budgets in excess of $8 million and presenting to my clients all relevant television data, recommendations, pre-buys and post-buys.
1978-1991 Media Specialist, Account Manager
Responsible for the management of 30+ active accounts. In this capacity, I identified each client’s needs, directed and supervised the Planning and Purchasing Groups’ efforts on my client’s behalf and maintained on-going client contact to assure their satisfaction and increased investment via Media Specialists. I managed client media spending of $25 million.
Associate Media Director
Managed both Planning and Purchasing Groups and was responsible for all major client presentations on their behalf. Also I was the operational advisor to the computer system design team and was promoted to this position in 1985.
Media Group Head
This position pre-dated the development of Planning and Purchasing groups. Managed on of three media groups with full responsibility of for all media functions on my assigned accounts and was promoted to this position in 1982.
Under the direction of the Media Director, I was one of three employees responsible for media planning and purchase supervision and was promoted to this position in 1980.
Promoted to this position in 1979, responsible for purchasing as well as completing Media Specialist’s first Procedures Manual, the project began in 1978.
Joined Media Specialists in 1978 as a Media Estimator and as their first only non-partner, media staff.
1975-1978 Imperial Optical, Public Relations/Advertising Co-ordinator.
Sole support staff for the directors of these divisions. Primary responsibilities were writing articles for the internal staff newsletter and tracking advertising budgets.
EDUCATION Public Relations/Advertising Diploma Humber College
My education was entirely within the Toronto area. It culminated with a Diploma in Public Relations/Advertising from Humber College. This diploma included segments on advertising, marketing, and research supplemental to the PR focus of effective communication and media management.
