Szczepan Urbanowicz has been providing architectural design, urban design and illustrative services to the development and construction industry for over 20 years. His expertise is centred around an extensive array of professional skills in architectural design, master planning and urban design through to graphic design and project illustrations.
To date, he has contributed planning and design expertise to numerous large scale resort residential, residential high-rise, mixed-use retail/commercial and infrastructure projects throughout Australia and the Asia Region. He continues to provide these services to his clients’ projects in China and has for some time now also extended his services to a number of projects in the Middle East.
Szczepan has over 20 years of experience in all facets of mixed-use development and infra-structure planning and design. He is New Zealand born, a 1992 graduate with an Honours degree in Architecture from the University of Auckland, New Zealand. Up to the point of setting up his own practice in 2001, his earlier work centred around design conceptualisation, project feasibilities and illustrations. Since 2001,he has concentrated the practices’ services in developing a strong brand amongst his clients in China. Over a short period, his practice found its niche in providing consultancy design services to numerous international multi-disciplinary project facilitators and design houses with his core services finding full utilisation and relevance within a greatly expanding Chinese marketplace.
This market also signalled the emergence and development of new methods of project delivery and established a clear practice philosophy centred around a model of “mobile design partnership”.
More recently,Szczepan has put his experience to practice and been involved in the delivery of some significant mixed-use projects. As an architectural design consultant to EA Design Group, he has delivered numerous architectural packages and provided urban design assistance. In a similar capacity for RTKL in Shanghai,he was involved in delivering master plans and urban design solutions for various sites in the chinese cities of Chengdu, Qingdao and Shanghai. Furthermore, Szczepan continues to work with internationally recognised EDAW / AECOM in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. He continues to be involved across a wide variety of project types. More significant project involvement has included the architectural concept designs for the waterfront revitalization of the City of Wuxi, China. The conceptual master planning of a town centre for a coastal site in Tunisia, and also architectural concept and illustrative work on numerous other projects across the UAE. Most notably, Saadiyat Island and Al Raha.
Exposure to the international marketplace has extended Szczpan's skill base into landscape architectural forms, feature landscape structures and civic and public feature buildings. His design skills are complemented by a strong and distinctive illustrative style. This range of design and rendering skills are in constant demand by an ever increasing and diverse range of client groups.
