I am a former college history professor, who has a passion for good grammar. My skills are such that I am often called upon to draft or edit documents that will be viewed by the general public. During my tenure as a professor, my freshmen students often carped about my relentless attention to grammatical and syntactical detail. By the time they became upperclassmen, they appreciated what I had done for their writing. In fact, they rated me tougher than their English professors, who often strove for creativity over good style.
