I am a aide in a 7th/ 8th grade science classroom that is 6:1:1 for emotionally disturbed and lower functioning children. Responsibilities include taking attendance, checking in homework assignments and helping students with work they do not understand. I also create and modify morning work for them to complete during homeroom as well as charts, tools, and definitions to set them up for success on their assignments. Throughout the day I often work one on one with the students who have different needs, and learning styles. I make additional modifications to homework assignments assigned in other subjects to better meet the needs of my students. On a daily basis I establish and reinforce positive working relationships with all students. Mentoring, coaching and training my students to develope appropriate social behaviors such as showering and being polite, are a huge part of my job. I always model and practice sensitivity, fair treatment and acceptance of diversity in all interpersonal interactions. I use the Windows 7 and 8 operating systems, Microsoft Word, Excel, Office, Internet Explorer and Mozilla.
